I love this statement and I love David, BUT I will write this under every upload of this - this is recorded against David will (or people who organised this) I know someone who was at this meeting. They weren't allow to record or make any photos. The person in the frame knows it. They are recording under weird angle "casualy holding their phone" so he won't notice. This is violation of his trust. This is not respecting him. I dont know how to tell you this, but David Tennant is a real person first and actor second. He is not an animal for petting zoo for our entertainment. I refuse to watch this video. Thank you very much.

I really have to take my hat off to him, he's one of only a small number if celebrities who said things actively in support of trans and non binary people, and more than once (I.e. not just a token gesture to say "I'm not a phobe" - he gives very real ally vibes that make me feel happy to see he's still pushing this side of the conversation - not enough people are putting up a fight against politicising us).

I feel like I’m constantly surrounded by the kind of people who make conflict about gender identity and sexuality like David said, it makes me question myself and feel wrong because of all the constant pressure to be angry and to resent trans people or nonbinary people. I feel like my opinions just get validated when David shows how letting people express themselves and be themselves is just common decency, it reminds me that there are good people, and not everyone thinks the way my family does.

Claiming that people are what they are not is a completely different thing from "letting people express themselves and be themselves". David Tennant is showing himself to be either ignorant of what the conversation is even about, or dishonestly misrepresenting it. I don't know which. I hope he understands that people who criticize the new age of wokeness in Doctor Who aren't transphobes. They're just people who have noticed a giant up-spike in preachiness in Doctor Who in place of the once-good writing the show used to have. The show has always been supportive of progressive things, too - but there's a difference between being generally supportive and just adding layers and layers of constant preaching rather than telling a conveying story. It's also unfair to label all rightwingers as the problem, here. That line screams that he's absorbing one-sided media too much. I'm right-leaning, most of the people in my area are rightwing or right-leaning, and very few of us ever have an actual problem with members of the alphabet communities walking into the bar or joining one of our parties. Mostly, in the real world, people really are just letting each other be. The only ones who aren't are the people who absorb too much biased media, whether it's Fox News or all the leftist Christian-bashing ones. They're all funded by the Blackrock and Vanguard, and they're all corrupt, only existing to bait and divide people further. Anyway... David Tennant is not a bad person at all. He just seems like he doesn't know every actual angle of this issue, which is fairly typical for people who live in the limelight instead of the raw, earthy real world with the rest of us.

When you fight something with a weapon which is essentially a word that is used to hurt or kill enemies, you can only use it x amount of times before it loses its strength. "Hater, anyone that disagrees with me is a hater." These words these Hollywood celebrities use are weapons that no longer work. What is the point of calling someone a hater when anyone they dislike or disagree with becomes one? Phobe, ists, er, they no lober mean what these people think they do. That is what happens when you weaponize words for your personal gain or exploiting others. And everyone has already understood it except for this tiny bubble of likeminded "people" who still try to put fear into others by using said words or "ending on the wrong side of history." You are steadily moving there yourself.

It's not affecting children tho??? I'm a trans man, I had to figure it out myself after YEARS of feeling wrong and misplaced in the world. Now I am an adult, I now have facial hair, a deep voice , and a social standing as a man. My life is better because of transitioning and any child that thinks they may be trans, should go to a therapist like I did and truly find out if their life can be better or improved by transition.

@astralcamisado648 2 ай бұрын
Adults who spent their childhood or teens self harming, suicidal or with eating disorders because of the impact of gender dysphoria (especially post puberty) they've been able to do nothing about have an agenda alright. So do the many adults who've had parents rape them to 'fix them', send them to conversion therapy, beat them, made them homeless or tried to kill them. Not to mention how I was groomed by a fetishist because people who buy into YOUR ideology forced me to hide who I was, and I'd say transphobes like yourself drive trans kids directly into the arms of sexual predators because there's NOTHING like feeling misunderstood, lonely and ostracised to make a child vulnerable to abuse. What trans adults want is for trans children to be safe and also actually make it to adulthood. People are aggresive towards you because your ideology gets children traumatised or killed. If you perhaps took the time to listen to anyone outside of your echo chamber, you'd realise that. People are kind and gentle when they are treated well by others, and trying to restrict other people's bodily autonomy, treating grown adults like children who are incapable of making our own life choices, constantly speaking over others regarding their own life experiences, making constant false accusations about trans people being somehow 'dangerous', or at best refusing to show us any kind of respect (how would you feel if everyone called you some embarrassing nickname your bullies gave you in school forever? That's how we feel.) is how transphobes act. Which are incidentally not things that typically inspire kindness. It also definitely doesn't inspire kindness that transphobes have physically attacked or harassed some cisgender women in women's spaces just because they have misogynistic ideas about what a 'real woman' is. My Mom got harassed for having a regional accent. A lot of people, trans and cis, are really not liking transphobe's misogyny. If you perhaps treated others with respect and didn't demonise them for existing, people might actually be nice to you but you cannot expect ANYONE to respect you when your ideology is based entirely on disrespecting others and pointless cruelty.
@kashiichan
@kashiichan 2 ай бұрын
I hope you won't take this comment as an attack, because it's not meant to be; I just think it's important for people to have accurate information. In most Western countries, the only way children are allowed to transition is socially - as in, trying out other pronouns and maybe changing their name. Puberty blockers were invented to help delay puberty, and are actually usually used on cisgender children; puberty is trending towards starting earlier than it ever used to (before they're 10 years old), and that's really not good for any kids. Puberty blockers stop working after you stop taking them, so puberty starts up again immediately - they are a temporary healthcare measure. This 'pause' also gives trans kids time to work out if they're actually interested in transitioning medically, or whether there are other issues that may be affecting how they think of their body (body dysmorphia, for example). "Trans surgery" is NOT for children (and if they don't go through the 'wrong' surgery, may not even be needed). I hope this information helps you!

@PichDextro
@PichDextro 2 ай бұрын
"Like" is a word to fill space when you need a second to think. As a non native English speaker (I'm German myself) you simply will have moments when speaking, where you have to translate the word you want to use and think about what word is the right one. That paired with speaking to a person, that makes you nervous or gets you star struck, like David in this case, will end up in a lot of silent moments during your speech. You'll have a bunch of 1-2 seconds where you don't say anything, because you have your sentence in your mind (usually in your native language) and need that second to translate it correctly. Now imagine David would think you're done talking, every time there is this pause. He would accidentaly interrupt you all the time, even though you weren't finished yet. To compensate, people use filler words like "like", to show David "I'm not done talking yet, I just need a second to think." It's to have the sentence continue, even though you don't actually say anything in that moment. Yes, it has become a habit for some people, even native speakers, to use it excessively, because they got used to it and they might use it when it isn't neccessary. The german equivalent would be the word "ähm" and I msyelf tend to use it too much sometimes, but getting rid of that habit once it's established itself is incredibly hard. Even more so when nervous or excited. The gravity of her question was obviously not lost based on David's reaction and answer to it.
