#God had a plan that you and I would not only survive but that we would be more than overcomers. David Wilkerson was the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.
In 1987, David Wilkerson returned to "the crossroads of the world" to establish Times Square Church. As a pastor of the church, he faithfully led this congregation, delivering powerful biblical messages that encourage righteous living and complete reliance on God.
David Wilkerson had a strong burden to encourage and strengthen pastors throughout the world. From 1999 to 2008, he traveled around the globe holding conferences for Christian ministers.

I have no idea how I came across David Wilkerson. Let me tell you, I rather have a pastor preach a sermon that's gonna break my Heart, bring my sins before me, feel conviction in the core of My heart, so I can repent! Than to hear a 40 min "preaching" about prosperity crap ... "God is gonna bless you, God has great things in store,don't worry God is gonna bless your home, your job, your life, etc" Yes, of course the Lord can do all that, but if you haven't repented of your sins and turn from your sin then how can God bless you. God hates sin... PERIOD!

What have you said here that is edifying to the church? Be careful that you don't turn and become an accuser just because you had a bad experience at Times Square Church. No church is perfect but I rather listen to someone who doesn't sugar coat the gospel and drives me to my knees in prayers than listen to a "feel good message" that makes me comfortable or complacent.

I never met him but came across him here on utube I was a great sinner feeling that there was no way I could ever be forgiven , yet I was hoping for it. I listened to this whole sermon and last Sunday was the first day in my life that I spoke in tongues. It was for about 20 mins and it was so beautifully uncontrollable. Every word id want to speak would be translated much differently than what I was really saying on the inside. I always thought that praying/ speaking in tongues was scary but after listening to this and experiencing the pure prescience of the Holy Spirit, my life is forever changed. Glory be to God. Yes praying in tongues is such a great gift from God. I had claimed to be saved but living in sin for many years and had not received the Holy Spirit. However,last year I made up my mind to receive the Lord as my personal savior and forsake sins and also repent of the sins that I was living in. After getting baptised I got so hungry for God. Glory be to God four months after surrendering my life to God, He filled me with the Holy Spirit and I started praying in tongues. Praying in tongues is very powerful that you can pray for more than an hour. This is my testimony and I give God all the glory. I thank Him for giving me another chance. God loves us all and nothing is impossible with Him. May we live for Him because He is good. Amen in Jesus' name.

God used him to wake me up and it's crazy the state of the church is so busy trying to get rich and live comfortably and then throw around accusation and judge but at this time how about opening up your word and testing every spirits but first start with yours before you even have the thought of plucking anything out of your brothers eye I had to come to the relationship with Jesus to the point that my heart really needed to be circumcised and I started to notice as I challenged myself to live his word more then I talk about it makes you understand people and that you need the help Christ more and you gotta humble yourself yuh see I'm 24 and it seems to me my generation does more talking then we do liven and following and it's like we want to know it all but don't want to listen to rebuke is good for correction and wisdom but to receive it with joy we have to pray that the lord will cut our hearts soften and humble our ears and mind to be open if not we as Christian people will always be swept away by fear of man and will always have this snare intil we began to love like Jesus did we always be trying to fight multiple wars against ourself against Satan and his army and with our flesh let's pray

It's no wonder so many Christians are confused about salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when preachers say things like David Wilkerson does at approximately 5:02 in this video! Contrary to David Wilkerson, the Bible repeatedly assures us that when we believe the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV) in our hearts, we are saved and simultaneously receive the earnest of the Holy Spirit, who seals us unto the day of redemption (2 Cor. 1:22; Eph 4:30 KJV). For those who don't know, the "earnest of the Spirit in our hearts" (2 Cor. 1:22 KJV) is God's security 'payment' to us, so to speak, that secures us and serves as His righteous seal that we are His for all eternity. We are spiritually marked as children of the King for the day of redemption! Bless His holy name!! "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" (Eph 2:8 KJV). See also Eph 1:13-14. David Wilkerson may be sincere in stating his belief at 5:02 in this video, but he is sincerely in error and speaking contrary to scripture when he says, "You do not receive him [the Spirit] until you have allowed him to accomplish his eternal purpose for which God sent him." If you don't have God's Holy Spirit dwelling within you, then you are none of His (Rom. 8:9 KJV). I don't doubt that David Wilkerson was a man of God, I just think that, perhaps without realizing it, he misspoke when he said what he did at that point in the video. We all need to be careful that we don't follow any man, but only Jesus Christ - the living Word of God.

The only tongue you should expect from true babtism, is the tongue of Jesus Truth when the Spirit speaks through you and guides you. To expect anything else like babble, is not of The Holy Spirit but of an unfamiliar spirit of wickedness. Order, not chaos. An overwhelming joy does at times happen, but not a psychotic event. Many have The Holy Spirit and do not know until they begin to notice how their lives are being transformed.
