Heard this on the weather, suddenly felt the rain beginning to form in the corners of my eyes. Love it.

This song is so heartbreaking. I'm not sure exactly what the song is about aside from the literal interpretation but for me it feels like the death of innocence. Like, you're not a teenage anymore, grow up and move on. It hurts :( been listening on repeat for days.

This song gave me shivers. But the first time I heard it I miss heard the the line as “and never find out bones” instead of “find our home” which gave me a VERY different interpretation of it

I found David through Night Vale, but honestly this is just an utterly beautiful song. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to check his work out.

Your song was on an episode of Night Vale that broke my heart. So I'm giving you all part of the blame! Thanks for the good tune.

I just got through a rough break up with someone I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with (you know, before they started acting like a monster). And this song...it just hits right where I need it to. It feels like the storm has passed and now we're picking up the broken pieces to start something new.

Hey, sorry to hear about the rough break-up. I'm glad this song was able to provide a little catharsis for you, hope you're able to continue picking up the pieces and finding a way forward!

I love this song and the whole album more than I can say. I've listened to it on repeat (both the song and the album) relentlessly and it gets to me every time. I was wondering whether you'd share the chords for it? I'd love to learn it, and I think I'm quite close but can't fully figure them out.
@DavidWirsig1239 ай бұрын
That seriously means so much to hear, thank you. I don't have a ton of experience writing out notation but I'll try to write chords in a way that hopefully makes sense. Here's the chord progression for the main melody and the chorus: D---A---D---F--#m----A-- (repeat) The verses start the exact same way, and then are followed by a second progression that goes like this: D---A---F--#m-----E--- There's a few small variations here and there throughout the song, but that's basically it!

Thank you so, so much! The F#m is the one I was missing I think = )

Great song. Is it meant to be Christian allegory or do you just find the imagery evocative?
@DavidWirsig1233 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the late reply! When I was writing this song I think I just wanted to use some of that familiar imagery to tell a new story. After I finished it though, I was surprised that so much of it lined up as a direct allegory, and this realization actually ended up influencing where a lot of the story goes on the rest of the album. So all that to say: a little from column A, a little from column B.

@@DavidWirsig123 thanks for clarifying! I really like it, even as a cynical non believer 😊
