Thanks for sharing this information. Like I mentioned on your Hallide Mark II app video, I was intimated by the app when I saw it the first time. I now understand it’s mostly because I never understood why there were so many things on the app! Now that I have seen this video, I know at least something about it and accordingly I will give it a try on some photos! Thank you for sharing this wonderful walkthrough!

Excellent video. Well done David😅😅 16:37 16:37 , braving the elements to bring home your expertise. Pro photographer, ex press photographer baby boomer here with an iPhone 12 Pro. For the life of me though I can’t find any manual controls to suit my needs, nor a way of editing my RAW DNG images. Can you or someone direct me towards such? I can’t see any difference or advantage in shooting RAW over JPEG.

Do you use some external app now for manual raw shooting? Or is the inbuilt app enough?

There are people who are beginning to report that photos taken with the tele x5 of the 15 pro max taken in raw format have an overexposed vertical stripe on the right side. It looks quite clear in shots with a part of the sky. It only happens in the raw format and not in Proraw

Thanks for the video. Till now I shoot in jpg/heic, but RAW seems very interessting which I know from digital cameras very good (I complete transfer from digital camers to making images with iPhone 12 Pro) Another question: How do you deal with transfering/archiving images from iphone to the lokal PC? In the past I made a folder per year and location (holliday, event, etc.) But if I make a trip with many locations the manuel transfer to many subfolder is very time consuming. On iPhone I like the map view where I can see where the images are taken and can zoom in. I am working with windows 11 PC. With the folder structure year/location I had also the idea to be independ of the application.... Thanks 🙂

How do you find Lightroom Mobile HDR capture works for these types of scenarios? It shoots 4 times in different exposures to then create 16 bit .dng file. It helps a lot when editing for HDR output in AVIF.

Great channel. You are helping me to rekindle my interest in photography. It’s refreshing to use my phone instead of the big and heavy Sony mirrorless system. Question about noise reduction. How do you deal with it in Darkroom workflow? I’m keen to learn something new and keep it away from my Adobe suite.
@David_Addison3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom! Happy to hear I'm helping! With regards to noise, I ensure I shoot at the lowest possible ISO at all times. It's not really an issue I've come up against as I shoot a lot in nature so noise hides in the textures of grass and branches. If I was in a very low light situation where noise would be an issue, I'd avoid RAW and either not take a photo or use night mode in the native camera app.
@ToasterDude13 жыл бұрын
@@David_Addison Thank you David. It makes a good sense. I since found out that I could do a quick noise control as a last adjustment in Photos. It does the trick. Now I need to crack how to fix a white balance.

Great tutorial. I have been following your work for a while and I really love the topics you cover. I am curious, what is the difference between exposure and brightness in darkroom? Does using them both have any benefits over just using one over the other?
@David_Addison3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Abu! They affect the image differently but I'm not 100% why. I'm sure if I looked it up I could find out 😆
@AbuAshrafMasnun3 жыл бұрын
@@David_Addison I don't know if it's the same for Darkroom too but I was going through RAW Power app's manual and they mentioned something along the line - exposure controls the overall brightness of the photo while the brightness slider uses a gamma function which doesn't affect the darkest and brightest areas. Yes, I am sure you could find out. I was just curious if you already knew or had any ideas. Thanks for creating these contents for us. Keep up the good work!

Hi David , how about a tutorial comparing edited raw to jpg to edited jpg from new iPhones? I love editing raw , however the results compared to jpg ( or edited jpg) are different...but not necessarily better, this is valid only when speaking about phone photos. Edited raw from dslr is wayyyy better than jpg. Returning to iPhone: In some (rare) occasions I was lucky editing jpg. Here 2 examples from iPhone X edited jpg : 500px.com/photo/1023371085/biking-by-radu-m. 500px.com/photo/257657049/-by-radu-m.
