Your point about those fake restoration videos is absolutely right. KZbin is absolutely saturated with videos of people "finding" stuff in rivers, forests, dumpsters etc & restoring it without putting much effort in making the item look, feel & run as it originally would. That's just how it is now in this platform. I myself see a lot of content creators absolutely milking the H out of fans just for views & revenue. Sometimes I get demotivated by that, but I realized that what I actually need to do is increase the quality of my work, which might actually help me a lot more in the long run instead of lowering my standards & do crappy videos for more views. Don't ever get disheartened & distracted by those people man

Thank you! I'm not getting disillusioned. I enjoy these projects themselves, more than the videos. You may see KZbin play ads on my videos; but those ads aren't paying me anything. None of my videos are monetized. I do this because it allows me to pay forward some of the knowledge others have shared with me.

You're a legend. Thanks for being so open with your knowledge. I grab a small new bit of something each video and it adds up to allow me to save machine I never thought I could work on.@davida1hiwaaynet

I remember videos several years back of a guy in Thailand who fixed up stuff- mostly power tools- which he found abandoned around the ship breaking yards. He actually did a pretty good job.
@davida1hiwaaynet9 ай бұрын
Yep. I think his videos were what gave the fakers their idea. If this guy can get views and credit for actually fixing things, they could fake it and make some of that money.

I just today had a centrifugal dropout switch mess up and explode (literally) a start capacitor. Now I need a new switch AND start capacitor... But that is life for you... Post your adventure of this motor. I am interested in how it comes out... Thumbs Up!
@davida1hiwaaynet9 ай бұрын
Thanks Gary. Hopefully your failed cap and centrifugal switch didn't harm the winding of your motor! I've uploaded and published all 5 parts of this video so you should be able to see the rest of the repairs!

You’re dead on with those fake restorations dudes. It’s frustrating because we do this because we love it and want to help others that might be stuck on the thing they’re trying to restore. I use KZbin a lot so I figured I’d give back to the KZbin community. In the end, forget about those guys. I do this because I love it. Filming it drives me crazy because I just want to keep going but I have to stop, wipe my hands then reposition the camera so my hand won’t block the camera. Hahahaha. It’s all worth it though. Especially when someone comments that my video helped them. Keep up the good work. You seem like a good dude that’s having fun. Me too.

Thanks for your comment! I agree that it does take longer to film repairs, but it's worth it to me, as well. I just looked at your channel, as well. Will have to watch your videos, when time allows. Thanks again for the comment and mentioning your channel!

Should’ve sharpened the cutter and snugged up the carriage bolt/bolt on those pliers and slap on a new spring. Be right as rain.

Consider investing in an HD video camera, good vid otherwise

Thanks. Actually my camera records in HD but my Internet connection isn't good enough to make the multi-gig uploads.

you're right about those fake restoration videos. a lot of them are they "find" an old stereo in the woods that's all in pieces and impossibly dirty and weathered. it's like those fake "free energy" videos
@davida1hiwaaynet9 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, those fakes are so irritating! You really wonder how low someone's level of awareness is so low that they believe what they are seeing.....
