I was gaslighted for 20 years by a cheating husband who is also a narcissist. By the time I divorced him I had no esteem or worth to speak of. He denied his actions even when I had physical evidence of what he was doing. He twisted truth always. And yes, he told me I was psychotic and needed to see a doctor for anxiety. It takes a long time to heal from that type of abuse. It destroys your emotions, you lose yourself identity, it makes you doubt your relationship with the Lord, you physically feel ill, you lose purpose, and the joy of life. No relationship is worth losing that. God is still restoring my mind and healing my emotions. It takes time. It's very important to pray and fast before you marry a person. Discern what God is revealing about that person. Trust God to end that relationship. God has your best interest at heart. He knows the right person for you. I hope this helps some out there. My wife is like ( except she's not cheating as far as I know) this and had me to the point I wanted to end my life. She is supposed to be a Christian but after I truly repented , committed myself to the lord and was born again that God has strengthened me. Of course she is now becoming worse because of my joy in God and I no longer cower, she continuously accuses me of cheating when I'm not, she has at one point lost control and physically abused me, but only once. I can't divorce her because like I said as far as I know she hasn't cheated . Im considering living separately from her , but I am concerned that if I do this that temptation might come knocking on the door. The Lord has done to much good work in me to ruin it by being tempted.

@@mrbas5150 I went through exactly that. I had to live apart because I had children. It wasn't good for them to see their dad hurting their mom. He quickly moved on to another woman but harassed me even though he was in a new relationship. It wasn't until I divorced him that he backed off. I hear he is doing the same to the new wife. He hasn't changed.

My narc sister has turned my sisters and my daughter and 2 grand kids against me. It's heartbreaking. I tried so hard to defend myself. They wouldn't tu and shut me! I finally gave up and shut them all out of my life and gave them ( mainly my daughter and grand kids) to the Lord! He's the only one that can get in their heads. Mary, you are not the only one. Just keep trusting God. He has shut the door to my family members because they abuse but do not repent, ever. Every branch in Him that doesn't bear fruit, he cuts it off.

So sorry. My son and his girlfriend have tried everything after I was kind enough to let them come live in my home. Has had me arrested for physically defend myself. It helps to listen to this.

I am so pleased that you experienced this yourself David so that you can understand others who suffer from this. I have found that so many or let's say most people in the church do not understand this, especially people in the most powerful positions. Plus, many people do this in the church by accusing you of things you have never done, belittling you, judging & condemning you wrongly & do in fact criticise you when you try to defend yourself. Unfortunately, I have experienced so much of this in the church that I now do not attend church. If you are what they perceive as a vulnerable person they will pick on you all the more - They like easy targets.

And that my friend means they are not true believing Christians they should not be preying upon you not to make this into religious rant but that’s more of an act of the devil than a Christian they’re supposed to comfort you not belittle. And if they’re gonna criticize you they better make sure they look at themselves in the mirror first, another thing which is why I hate Copeland so much, narcissists psychopaths and sociopaths worship power of all else their hearts are not of the Lord because if they were they would throw away their pride which is what the pedestal eyes on them selves. I don’t hate Copeland because this money or his face surgeries but because who his friends are and the lies that he tells to the followers plus he makes a spectacle against God so he can give them dopamine fixes which I think he was taught at by some intelligence but in that case that might be an opinion I would need evidence which is based on educated guessing of course.

I had a boss that lots of my coworkers had problems with, but I usually didn't. I think it was because I communicated with her primarily through email. Everyone seemed to behave when the situation was in writing. Thank you for the video.

I know our fight isn't against flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness in high places. I also now can recognise that I can move forward and be who God is calling me to be. I love good people too. Thank you for explaining this term. I have an abusive Brother and his narcissistic wife who love to try to bring me down. They’ve done it for years and I finally just had to let them go. I could see there was never going to be an end to their abuse and I don’t want to keep trying to make peace because, in their minds, they can do no wrong. What does the Bible say about just abandoning your siblings? Is it wrong and should I still continue to attempt peace with them?

God never said we have to accept abuse or enabling it. The Pharisees were abusive too and so many times tried to harm and kill Jesus wel before His final crucifixion. How do you think Jesus handeld it ? He confronted them and rebuked them for their evildoings and left them alone. Never engaged in any fight with them but instead always was prudent and distanced himself from them.

I lived with one who claimed to be a Christian. I can't tell you the level of confusion frustration and anger I experienced in that marriage, but God rescued me out of it. If I'd stayed I think I would have had a complete breakdown/ loss of self. I'm so glad this is being widely discussed, even 5 years on I am still recovering and now trying to protect my daughter.

Yes I have a neighbour who has caused a lot of damage in my life. Also trying to humiliating me re my spiritual beliefs in front of other neighbours. I hope to move soon. She hung around my husband and had everyone talking about him. Trying to cause mischief. Hubby died and I am over this woman. Most of the neighbours have moved because of her. Many times over.

My Narcissist is an expert in gaslighting. Here is a simple example how she does it. Her: “How come the toilet paper is hanging over the top of the roll? You know I hate this,it looks like an outhouse.” Me: I am sorry, I will put it on the other way. I put the toilet paper so it faces the wall. Her”How come you put the toilet paper facing the wall. I told you I like it hanging over the top. Why don’t you ever listen to me? Can’t you show love by listening to ms? How do you beat this double bind?

My best friend stopped talking to me when I became a foreign missionary. This a brother in the Lord that was very zealous for God. People are fickle. At the very beginning when I got a notice of eviction I immediately went to a lawyer's the day afterwards and so he text messages me and I have the text messages I've printed them off I've put in them in the binder that I'm prepared to go to court with three binders I've had me three copies of everything yeah I don't know I think possibly either he has a short-term memory or he thinks that I'm a wimp I don't know how he can think that because I say no to him very clearly and I tell him very clearly don't don't ever be calling me late at night blah blah blah

In my particular situation where the caretaker here is a serious narcissist and he attempted to gaslight me one time and from that day forward I always carried a tape recorder but I have studied psychology as a hobby for 42 years am I Deliverance worker for the Lord I have very clear and healthy boundaries and so I also take pictures etc it's sad I've never had to do this before but it cost me $3,000 to move into this place it's an apartment but yeah I'm ready to go full steam to court cuz they gave me an eviction notice because of his lies which I proved him wrong and even showed video tapes yes it's kind of funny not funny as in haha this is a sick dude I've never been around people like this I humbly say that I always associate with decent people educated people I'm not saying that to be haughty I'm not talking about major university degrees or anything but you know I just don't hang with people as an example to drink I would I don't drink I don't associate with people that drink I'm not saying that you're bad or whatever I don't associate with people that do drugs I don't do drugs you know what I mean so if you have good morals and values hey we can hang but yeah this is a trip yeah he he thank you he was he was gaslighting now you don't want to do that cuz ma'am I haven't got time for this I'm too old I'm 63 I'm too old for this nonsense
