They are amazing to watch KZbin clips from the United States and see where people admire Volvo as much as they do at home in Sweden. Greetings from a Volvo fan from Sweden

I really loved my 66 122s estate, the b18 and 4 speed were a bit sluggish, but the brakes were worse, so it was fast enough as it was.

As a Swede we in Sweden or Mechanics in Sweden to put it right allways say that Volvo modell is so Easy to repair or adjust the motor because there sure is plenty of rooms for hands and elbows around the motor because it's such a small motor :) Ill hope it all went well with your Volvo project :) BTW in Sweden when you repair the right word for it is "Mekka med bilden " Mekka with the Car " Mekka from mechanic has nothing to do with the place Mecca

So happy you're back restoring another Amazon! But like a previous poster said, skip the MB! Get a nice 850 T5R engine instead, much more fun! :D

That would be pretty fun, but Volvo Specialists in Denver are already putting a white block in their p1800, so we're going a unique route

The Volvo Amazons are more and more scarce, even here in Sweden. Remenber only 667.000 were built during it´s 14 production year. With that said it´s fantastic to see that most parts are remanufactured today.Try to find a decent object before you start the renovation The motor is widely known to last "forever" and the classic quality reputation is well earned-

The garage i work at in the netherlands has a 1964 amazon 2 door and im planning to buy it. It has set there for 13 years and the only problem is clining it. The original engine is still in it. I dont know if it runs but thats no problem. The original interieur is stil in it it only needs some clining.

When was the last time the posh boy Ferrari owner(who,undoubtedly thinks himself a proper classic car enthusiast)got himself muddy,or even took spanners to his ride? As a proper enthusiast i'm restoring (or putting together about 50,000 bits of scrap metal) my Volvo Amazon. Nice to see a video of grass-roots restoring,although having IPD on board must help a little! A diesel engine,what were you thinking!!

David Bello oh, forgot I had even left a comment on this video. Great! It's been my daily driver all summer. Apart from me accidentally breaking the heater valve, not a single problem. Maybe I should make a short video and post it to my channel.

Why I only found it just now is beyond me. It combines my two loves: Lolvos and MB diesels, even so i would love to use newer diesel, but yeah, as I'm in Europe I bought V70 with D5 for some changes I found under sofa pillow.
@anders27725 жыл бұрын
Most robust? The record belongs to a 1966 Volvo B18b which has over 3 million miles on 1 rebuild and maintence after Volvo's recommendations and the right type of oil for it. The owner of the 1966 Volvo 1800s Irv has passed on but his Volvo is still running in his family.

An Amazon wagon is rare but an S is even more rare, I mean hell, that's rare even for us swedes!
@DavidBello10 жыл бұрын
Every Amazon I've seen in the USA is badged with an S. I'm not sure if it's a standard badging for the north American market
@noribswe900910 жыл бұрын
Holy crap you replied! :O Well atleast in sweden the S badge stands for Sport, did the Amazon have dual SU carbs on it? Because that's an easy way to figure out if it's an actual sport or if it's just another branding.
@DavidBello10 жыл бұрын
Of course I replied! All Amazon's here come with dual SU carbs unless converted aftermarket with a Weber.

Glad to see annother Volvo Amazon, in this case a wagon, has been rescued, but if your thinking of putting a diesel in it, they have diesel engines, for example, the 240 diesel, the 740/760,turbo diesel, or the later series, keep it all volvo, the Mercedes Benz are good cars, but that combination doesn*t quite go together, sicerely would you put a volvo engine in a Mercedes Benz, how about putting a Ford 302,V8 engine , which some people have done, less expensive, parts available, not like the Mercedes Benz engine, which I believe, is around maybe , approximate $ 15,000 dollars, if the transmission is anywhere arround$7,000-10,000 then you would have to get the wiring to see if it*s compatible.

Would someone PLEASE explain how it is that Volvo never rusts? If I read one more forum claiming that its simply because Volvo owners clean and care for their cars, I will refer them to this video.
@DavidBello7 жыл бұрын
Timothy Mallon that's exactly it. nobody cleaned or cared for this one in the woods, so it rusted.
@timothymallon7 жыл бұрын
Very little of the actual body is rusted. I'm not counting the wheel wells or the floor boards here. Ive never seen any car that can withstand decades of sitting. What I am talking about is the body! It's covered in moss but not rust
@DavidBello7 жыл бұрын
Watch episode 6
@timothymallon7 жыл бұрын
I understand what you are saying but I am not talking about the floorboards and undercarriage. Any car sitting on the ground for decades will rot underneath like this one did. What I am talking about is body panels. Fenders, hood, roof, rockers, etc. For a 1967 car, sitting in the woods, even though it is completely covered in moss, I find it odd how Volvo body panels seem to lack rust. I've seen a lot of Volvo's up north, living in upstate New York and unless you're totally abusing the car, they never seem to rot out. What does Volvo do to their bodies that prevents rust? They MUST be doing something with them. Compare ANY Volvo to any American made car...heck any other car not made of fiberglass.

Timothy Mallon truly, I do not have much to reference outside of classic bricks. quality paint and underlining? Swedish steel?
