Usually the fluid found in the booster is from a seeping master cylinder, however, if it was engine oil, the PCV system was using the vacuum booster as a vent.

There was a ton of blow by from the old worn B30A

@@DavidBello I can believe that. Just be sure your "new" engine's crankcase can breath as designed. Also, research oils specifically blended with zinc to protect old engines, especially better for the camshaft and lifters.

Long ago, I was in charge of checking in the new Volvos to the dealership where I worked. Backing down the first 164s with a manual gearbox, my buddy loved to snick them into 1st whilst rolling backwards, give the brand new 164 a blip of the throttle and SMOKE the rear tires.

These are the best videos. Thanks for making these. I drove and worked on 245, 242 and 164s throughout the 1990s and this brings back a lot of memories.

I get the impression you are dismantling the car piece by piece to clean up or repair the pieces. That's a mighty big task. But you will have a beautiful vehicle which will be reliable. Your knowledge of old Volvos is encyclopaedic. Awesome.

David you never have spares, when you have 2 164s, you might have enough to do the 2 cars, maybe a 3rd if your lucky.
