One of my favourite videos of his. A loving tribute to mid-20th century neo-noir and science fiction. Bowie walking along the corridor as the men rise from their seats is lifted from a scene in Orson Welles' adaptation of The Trial. Bowie being interrogated surrounded by microphones as Lemmy Caution is in Alphaville. The torture scene is straight from Chris Marker's short film La Jetée. The women with the microscopes are modelled after the Pan Am stewardesses in 2001. Also Bowie lying on the crushed car towards the end of the video refers to the famous photo of Evelyn McHale, who ended her life jumping off the Empire State Building in 1947. What else have I missed?

I find most of his 90s stuff very 'nineties' and less iconoclastic than his earlier work creating new genres and then of course his last. His videos break ground and i do love this one song but, i kind of get it in the case of this period. No disrespect, he's obviously a tremendous artist regardless of opinion.
@bengejuknowit30483 жыл бұрын
@@acchaladka the thing is, you still get (kind of naff) 90s tracks played by other artists on the radio which weren't necessarily high charted singles but Jump They Say was a top 10 charter by a huge artist! So why isn't it played on the radio alongside his other hits?

This song is the reason I've changed careers. The desire to do something good and that I love out weights unhealthy societal expectations to fall in line. I've been there and was left feeling miserable with no purpose. Having a work and life balance and being able to do good things for people outweigh impressing people that don't care about your well-being or anyone else's well being for that matter. Great video and great song.
