Great video Dave. The map prep work and then the physical walking the route really makes this material come together. Well done.

Excellent Mr. C! Likely the best YT 'navigation series' I've seen - basic and easy to follow. I hope there's more to the series - learning quite a bit about tying everything together - compass, map, pace count - it works! 👍👍👍

This is an excellent series that highlights David Canterbury at his best! All eleven of these videos are well thought out and excellently presented.

Great video, walking through the route and using the map. Using grid north , adding declination and following a pre determined route was awesome. It really is that simple but for some its like pin the tale on the donkey. Good tutorial 👍

If you've been following Daves nav series you'll have recognised our teeth have been growing enough to start on some simple but very nourishing (comprehensive) solid food in this video. Hope you get the analogy. To learn to walk we must do the walk. (Plant it in the long term memory!) Thank you Dave for holding our proverbial 'baby hands' buddy! You are certainly taking the time to teach us properly, comprehensively, and wisely as putting the nav in a series to be easily absorbed is conscientious of you. (I've seen some teachers trying to feed the infant steak.) The mates and I did the car park nav trial with a vehicle for squaring and triangulating around with witches hats for our locations. All went well but we did ten outa the proposed dozen b4 the lads were tonguen' too badly for a beer. I reckon a reasonable park with surrounding streets for hand rails might do the job for us suburbanites practicing what your teaching us in this video. Good excuse for bbq and a beer too mate! Honour and respect. Cheers Dave. 👍 Universal Sovereign Citizen

Yeah, Dave, I really do appreciate it. Thanks. Looks like it was pretty hot and muggy out there. Hasn’t gotten too hot over here in Western MA yet, only low 60’s today.

I enjoyed this presentation because you put the theory together with the practicum. Great job, Dave. Besides this presentation, I enjoyed your other navigational videos, as well. Take care buddy.

DC - what size is your map? I really like this video because we get to see the planning and the actual trip. Plus along the way you talked about things like the mushrooms, the fishing, etc. I really enjoyed this and wouldn’t mind seeing more like it! Short journeys from planning to walking plus talking about whatever else happens along the way.

Quite interesting to see how it all comes together. Would it help the pacecount if you track it on your watch instead of mentally exhausting yourself by physically counting it? I know we'd like to keep this all old school but a pedometer wouldn't hurt the situation. After all, we're already going into the situation by somewhat preparing ourselves by mapping out the expected route.

Pace Count Pro Tip: Count DOWN from your pace count number to zero. You're a lot less likely to accidentally overcount and miss a bead.

Would you entertain the idea of a one on one say... 2-3 hour class with someone just on navigation? If so any idea of what you think you would charge? Thanks, and BTW I am not at all new to all this but I am always willing to lean more.
