Dave, this has been a lot of fun watching you get into radio. You bit into it hard and I’m really glad you’re out on HF and making contacts! Also, your Jeep is dialed in, that is impressive!

8:15 I've mentioned in one of your previous video's comments a few weeks ago, you can use arborist throwline and a weight bag to get your antenna high up in a tree. We use it to get our long climbing ropes high up in a tree over a branch climbing drt. Cool to see you are using it now. Btw I love your channel and the knowledge you share in your video's. The pathfinder Ti camp grill is an awesome piece of kit to have. Looking forward to your next adventure. Greeting from the Netherlands!

Congrats on getting your ticket, Ham radio is lot of fun as I'm sure you are discovering. So the path finder coffee, I make one and I call it mud, Regular brewed coffee (death wish), 1 pouch of instant death wish, and then a double shot espresso. If that can't get me moving nothing does!! HI--Just wanted to Congratulate you on your general. Try not to get frustrated on not making contacts on a day to day basis. A lot of the bigger stations have over 1000 watts and bigger antennas. Also, using a Software Define Radio gives a lower noise floor as well. A 100 watts does go world wide, but limits due to Space Weather make it harder this end of the Sun Spot Cycle. Great job, AD6EC.

A couple of straps or lines from the back of that table, under the tire then up to both corners of the table should help it. Got my tech about the same time as you and have been hitting the book for general. Just to many Blacksmith demos this time of the year. Working on learning code now.

What year and what model is your jeep. I keep hearing people cite Jeeps as lemons now a days. First was a Liberty( 2015?16?); then wranglers. Newer models (ie 2021, i believe made in Mexico?) What I wanted to look at was a gladiator? Pickup jeep. But am now VERY hesitant! But i love body of your truck. Wanted to know more about it.

As cycle 25 ramps up be careful operating close to 14.300. Nice set-up but the rig is a bit bulky for my liking. I keep a couple Icom 706's on hand for portable operations and use OCF antennas. OCF's are simple and can be easily cut to resonance 160 up to 6 with a 4:1 or my preference a 6:1 current transformer, balun. Baluns are simple to build but many newer hams are loosing the talent to build. You don't learn everything overnight or even over a couple years. I have 50+ years in amateur radio and still learning. I am waiting for you to mix your slingshot hobby and your Ham radio hobby, to get antenna wires up in the trees. Hint, fishing line and a fishing weight to get the line as high as possible. Then pull Masons line up to the top. Use the Masons line to get the wire up. Masons line is superior to Bank line in this case because its slippery so it slides easy across the branches.
@happymark18053 жыл бұрын
dont trust signal reports too much, most of them give you 5-9, some even get mad if you give a honnest report, if ypu gp to bands like 17Meter you will catch stations that are more expreienced more old timers with loads of experience

I agree with most things you said over the years I've been watching your channel Dave but this tire table is pretty pointless to me. More complicated than a regular folding table, takes longer to set up and take down, isn't stable... Is there any thing that this table is better at than a regular table besides mounting on a tire?

Tried getting into ham radio and studied the material like crazy, but realized it was more than I wanted to get into. Do you really need to know how to build an electrical device and all the mathematical equations that go into it, just to talk on a radio? Probably not. And I really wasn't happy with the remnants of what's left of the HAM community. It's full of policing trolls for the FCC who are constantly seen threatening others with prison unless they get their license. Which explains why the community has been dying over the years and nobody is on the air. Regulation has totally killed it. Only ones left are the die hard enforcers who go around sounding official pretending like they are fulfilling some government role. No thanks! I know how to use my radios when the time comes.
