I just purchased an ICOM 7300, and I'm very happy with it. Thank you, Dave, for all your informative videos. 73's.

Nicely organized presentation. I like plain and simple explanations, but discussing Maxwell Equations is fine too. :-)

Please also consider RF exposure limits when installing an attic antenna. Especially when you put the wire on the attic floor rather than at the peak.

Does he have rain gutters? They're not great antennas, but they do work. If not, does he have eaves he can hide an efhw in? Again, not the best, but it provides me a lot stealth and I'm able to get out even on 80m with okay results.

A very important message for commenters, beginning at 0:54. (Don't waste your time commenting unless you throw in some money. Dave doesn't have time to read them, but money talks.)

There is a neat product you can buy that is a flag pole And an Antenna. It masquerades as a flag pole. Several companies make these: one is greylineperformance. They are also referred as a stealth antenna or HOA antennas

I’m putting up an outdoor antenna what gauge bare copper wire do you recommend for the lightning ground? Thanks.
@rogerp58162 ай бұрын
I believe it should be at least #6 bare copper stranded. Check the ARRL book Grounding and Bonding for the Radio Amateur by Ward Silver or the NEC section 800 - Communications Systems. for a full explanation.

Problem is the effective grounding is geologically dependent. And surprise the earth is not uniform, geologically.
@JoePJack12 ай бұрын
@@raywhitehead730 well, I can’t control the earth but I can control the wire I use.

I wonder if HOAs are a regional thing. Where I'm at, there rarely are HOAs.
@raywhitehead7302 ай бұрын
You are correct! HOA are a regional thing. Here in California its a real deal and a common thing. There is good and bad things with it.

What vertical antenna(s) mounted above ground and don't need radials? Anyone??
@davidsheedy57932 ай бұрын
MFJ has one, model 2389, its now being sold through DX Engineering.

Grounding, is Not a simple concept. Consider how do you ground electricity from a spaceship, boat, airplane, on a glacier or a large and deep body of ice and snow? The required lengths of grounding rods in the earth is different for different countries, how did they establish the codes for different countries?

A premise I invest by is; When a stock reaches a 52-week low, it’s more likely to set a new low than it is to increase in value, on the other hand, when a stock reaches a 52-week high it’s more likely to set a new high than it is to decrease in value. Beware: I am certainly not qualified to give financial advice.

Grounding. The Earth, is Not universally uniform geologically. So grounding is not universally equal. You must test the effectiveness of your ground . How ever, having said this, for the majority it won't matter much. You should look up your code for grounding, for most.
