CF cards are my favorite too!!! The D1 and D1x cameras are interesting to pickup and use as well.
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I find that CF cards are general more reliable and durable than SD cards. I also like their size better as well. But most importantly, they corrupt much less than SD cards in my experience. That said, more and more cameras are moving to SD cards but at least I am glad to see that many new cameras still accepts CF-express cards. ☺️ Regarding the D1 and the D1x, I have a D1x and a video about it will be coming for sure next year! ☺️ I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️

i was waiting for you to review the d100.. i actually have one. one reason why i bought it was because i was surprised with how cheap it was.. i wasnt expecting much from this, but turned out to be a great buy.. i fell in love with the old sensor's colors.. the actual fade was what made it special. i didnt like editing photos, so the get-go of this camera gave me the actual quality i was looking for dont come buying old cameras for sporty shots.. but using it for portraits would make you realize how careful thought went in to making this camera, especially during a time when DSLR was in a make-or-break market entry

Congrats on having the camera, I am sure you've produce great results with it so far and I am also very happy to hear that you really like the camera. :-) It is still a great camera that is more than capable of producing great results if used properly. As you said, it's not meant for sporty but it is still reliable. I also agree that the look on coming out from this camera is very unique especially with the older CCD sensors and how it renders different tones and contrasts. Actually, these camera "My Thoughts" videos are not really review videos. I know that I have a certain way of taking photos as well as have certain priorities... Therefore, I am bias to the way I shoot and that's why I feel bad calling these videos "reviews" since it really is based on just my experience with them. I like to create them because I hope it might help people with understanding this camera from a little different point of view as well as if they need a second or even third opinion on them. Also, if I can shine a light on older cameras and giving them another life, I am more than happy to do it.. Especially when most people don't really need the newest tech out there and they can save more money to buy lenses and or equipment to improve their perspectives in photography. :-)

I've had one for years on my shelf, with about 400 pictures taken, mostly floral garden scenes. I use Nikkor wide angle and zoom lenses. It's an excellent camera, takes great pictures. I'll keep it since trade value is only a few dollars, for some reason. You could say it's iconic and is worth a lot more to a collector.

The D100 is still a good camera that you still can take some unique shots with. But of course, it is an older technology that was also mass produced, so it is normal to find the value of this camera not as high. But if used properly, this camera can still produce some really nice results for sure. :-) Thank you for watching and for commenting. I wish you a good time, stay safe and have fun shooting :-)

just to add.. owning this camera also made me buy a canon 300d... which was fairly less ideal than the nikon d100.. but considering the sensor it was still a great purchase.. whenever i get asked if these old cameras are even worth spending an afternoon with (because all the electronic functionality are not fast, AF, FPS and photo review) .. i simply say, "if you shoot with it with a perspective that its just a point-and-shoot Film camera, that happens to allow you to manually focus, youll feel like you have the best time in the world"
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I love the 300d and yes, it is less than the D100 as the 300d is meant more for beginners and those converting from film cameras to digital camera for the first time... But both the D100 and the 300D are still great cameras for delivering unique results that you no longer see nowadays with more modern cameras... Sure, it is technologically behind but they have a certain charm to them in my opinion. And I also completely with you statement about point-and-shoot Film camera albeit with the ability to still review your images if you want (as well as delete them unlike film.. :-) ). Furthermore, I think that it is also nice to just be out there capture with these older cameras since it really also allows you to take you time, be with the environment/elements of what you are photographing and less about the results and the technicalities... Therefore less interruptions as well. :-) Thank you so much for continuing to watch my videos as well as sharing your story, really means a lot. These are getting harder to find. You will run into a D50 and D70 before you find one of these for sale. I own 2. The D100 comes with an AF motor and has the vintage Sony CCD ICX-413 AQ sensor. It's the only camera in Nikon's line that had this specific sensor. Nikon went to CMOS sensors. Hasselblad still uses the CCD sensors today let that sink in. CCD Sensor are known for less noise which is how you can get sharp photos with a 6 megapixel camera and surprisingly fast 5 point AF. The D100 is big and bulky and heavy plastic. With a beefy grip if you like bigger cameras. I like it and use one still.

Yeah, I also really think that photography can be easy and fun with just any camera and expensive or having the best up to date gear shouldn't matter at all when it comes to photography.Just have to go out there and shoot and capture your story/momemts/creativities/etc. :-) Regarding your question, I would love to do a series on that for sure but right now it's a bit too expensive to also include that in since I have to pay my models for every shoot (whether if the model is my friend or not) and also publishing two videos per weak is also eating up a lot of time already. But I am still looking for ways to include photoshoots with budget/cheap cameras into my videos for sure. :-) Thank you so much for continuing to watch my videos and also for the kind words and suggestions, really appreciated it. What makes the D100 special is the colour. It has the best colour raw files in Lightroom of any Nikon camera. I have the D100, D200, D50, D90, D750, Z6 and the D100 has the files that Lightroom reads the "best", in that they are identical to the colour on the back of the LCD and in Nikon's NX Studio. The D200 files have strange calibration issues. Even the Z6 files need a lot of work to get the right result, the files are obviously more flexible, but as for colour perfect right out of the box, the D100 wins. For outdoor shooting set WB to sunny and -3, and hue to -9. Perfect "film like" colour. No editing necessary.

@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
I think that it really depends on your needs and whats more important to you. If the image quality is more important, the D100 in my experience is a better choice to go for since the images out of the D100 is a tiny bit sharper and will handle post processing (if you're into post processing) than the D1. Furthermore, the menu system as well as just the overall operating system of the D100 is a bit faster than the D1 actually. However, if you'd like to bigger camera in your hands as well as a camera with faster shutter speed (especially useful when using bright lenses outdoors), then the D1 would be a great choice for you. Also, if you'd like to use the older ways of operating the older Nikon DSLRs, then you'd enjoy using the D1 over the D100. Hope that helps. Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting. Happy holidays :-)

Get a d1h. The normal srgb color space is worth it over the regular d1 along with many other quality of life improvements. At times my d1h gives me results that truly make you believe it’s not from 2001. Also if you shoot b/w film or appreciate the look. If you set the expanded iso with JPEGs in black and white it produces very amazing film like grain.

Aww yes, the Nikon D100; A ‘Fan Favorite’ and camera that seemed to achieve a very unfounded Cult status. Don’t you dare put down another Person’s D100. Rubbish! At the risk of offending some good people on here, the D100 was nothing more than a reworked N65 film camera, I do believe? Nothing at all special about it. Yeah, the early CCD sensors had a certain ‘magical’ quality about them, owing to the fact they WERE CCD sensors! I own and still occasionally use a D200, and would agree on the quality of the files. But the D100 and D200 were night and day. I can remember the buzz before the release of the D200. Still enjoy those videos David, even of mediocre cameras, of which I’m afraid the D100 was. Sorry Peace 👍✌📷😊
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
I do agree that it didn't bring much to the table and that even for the price, it's probably better to go for the D200 since the D200 will have much better files, performance and even built quality. But there is still a little bit of charm using this camera in my opinion. Because if performance, image quality and built quality wasn't the big priority, the D100 really give a different interesting feeling of using the camera. It really can feel like a time capsule and that can be interesting to many people as well. No need to be sorry, I do love the D100 but in terms of image quality, performance and built quality, I think I indirectly said in generally that same points as what you made. Also, these topics are also a matter of an opinion. Some people will love it and some will not... So I totally respect your opinion and perspective.
