Great stuff Dave although I’m not sure how many people have the machinery like you do to make such modifications like on this build. I like it when you keep to the basics which we can all do. Just my own preference
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
I get where you are coming from. You can just buy those parts as well. I just make them because I enjoy it so much. Really the only machinery I have is that lathe. The other stuff I make with files and a drill. Thanks a bunch for watching and for the feedback!

Love the precision David. You ever consider making a business out of high-end moped restoration? And aren’t AirPods perfect for conference calls? I use mine for that all the time.

Well Jason, if there is one thing I know about myself, is that If I turned this into a job, I’d start hating it. Just like every other job I’ve ever had 😜. As soon as I HAVE to do something, it loses all appeal.

David Fixes His Shit good point. Just seems like there’s enough middle aged people like me who would pay for the craftsmanship. But I get it.

Dave, I see you changed your engine mount bushings... I'm having a real hard time finding some to replace mine . I have the noi motor and wonder if the vip motor has the same motor mount bushings and where you got yours.

David.she looking sweet .nice lathe work. Your next tool for your workshop should be a manual mill ? I see you had to forgo italian to an american exhaust in the end .👍
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
I'm still upset about it, but I couldn't make any Italian exhausts work. Sigh. I'd love a mill, btw. I'm always looking on Craigslist hoping one pops up

Hi David I've got a Garelli just like this one. i inherited it from my brother-in- law as he got tired of it. The problem is that it will run for awhile, but it won't start again until cooled or I'm tired which ever comes first. do you have any ideas? I was thinking of changing over to electronic ignition like you did. I've read that maybe that could be the problem. Anything is appreciated. I haven't tried working on it since hernia surgery two years ago, got tired of trying to pedal. No that I can't do much else by staying around home I thought I'd give it a try...again. The videos are great, i told my brother-in-law to take a look and see what the Garelli "could" look like. take care waiting to see the next video and conclusion on the Garelli.

I think you are on the right track with the ignition system. Condensers especially like to crap out when they get hot. Switching over to CDI will certainly remedy that issue, since you get to remove the condenser entirely. Other than that, check the basics- do you have an air leak? Is your plug wet? Are you getting enough fuel? Good luck with her!

Did you do anything to make the polini to fit perfect besides the fin? Mine is not going in all the way because of the bubble close to the base. I have an 84 VIP 2 , not sure if something is different.

David! I'm trying to reach you on your latest video. The copper bushing after removing the flywheel is loose and movable, but damn impossible to remove from the shaft, it gets stuck on the edge where the lock ring was. What to do? :(
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
You mean the flywheel on the ignition? That covers the stator? I didn’t have a lock ring on mine, just a nut. And I had to use a puller to get it off, since it’s tapered.

You should share the music you use in your videos. It's good stuff, but I can't figure out what it is

Hey! Thanks Jonathan! I write and play all the music myself, so I really appreciate that you like it. I’ve uploaded some of it to Soundcloud here m.soundcloud.com/user-781050447

Do you use the bikes that you restore? And if so which one do you like the most?
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
I do use all of them. As for my favorite... that’s like asking me to pick by favorite kid 🤓. I like each of them for their own reasons. When I want to go fast, it’s the Moby. When I want to be comfortable, it’s the Tomos. When I want to look cool, it’s the Magnum.

I think Squeeze hight is too much, 0,7 0,8 mm is the best. Oslo check piston hight . Succes!!
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
The gasket compresses quite a bit. It is flexible rubber. After the head is torqued down, the squeeze is less than a mm
