What started my love of motorcycles. A blue Garelli just like yours but with a single person seat. Glad I kept a few photos of my starter bike. Thanks for letting me see one again. FYI-Peddling was a joke unless starting the bike.

I had this exact moped when i was 10-12 years old. I delivered newspapers with it in houston texas. I rode the wheels off it, and wouldnt mind owning one again.... but like you said.... few parts and few examples to be had. Great trip down memory lane.

This is classic here in Brazil. Known for being more in repair shops than on the road LOL. I love it!

I'm so happy when I see another project, Episode 1, and its another moped! Keep cranking these puppies out and putting beautiful bikes on the road.

I’ve got the next 3 projects already planned out, so no end anytime soon. The owner of my workshop just told me that he is working a deal on the space to put in a brewery. While I love beer, I am not looking forward to having to move. Looks like that is coming pretty soon tho.

I have 2 GARELLI Gran Sports. 1977 and 1978 both are still pinging along at 27-34 mph. So simple to repair and mine are both Red. Love them. Removed the oil injection. Never trusted it mixing my oil/gas. Mine have the have the horizontal engines. They came only out of South Carolina for distributing throughout the USA.

Gorgeous bikes. I’ve never gotten to mess with the NOI engine. I want one!

David Fixes His Shit , I'm responding backwards in these comments. The 78 GARELLI WAS running like a top. Your videos got me excited to get them out for a ride. They've been in the extra shed for quite a while ever since I bought a near mint 02 Honda Metro Scooter with 83 miles on the Odo. Needless to say my H-D Ultra has been sitting covered up too. I have a fascination with small, gas sipping 50 cc bikes. Anyway, if you read in my replies and comments, you'll get the details of my 78 Garrelli situation. Another bummer is that here in MD they need registration stickers and insurance ( didn't need anything to ride 50cc just a few years ago except a valid MD DL). I plan on shining the best one up and getting it road legal. Just dreading the long visit to the MVA/DMV.

That clip of you trying to get it started is so relatable lol. I have this same bike and every time it sits for more than a few hours it’s a work out to get her goin.

Hell yes! Welcome back, David. I was needing a reason to get out of bed amid this hot, humid Kansas summer rife with non-functional mopeds, and you provided that reason. Can't wait for the next one!

Well hot damn! I was born in Lawrence and I’ve always considered myself a honorary Kansan, even if I did grow up in south. Go Royals! 😬
@tylerfike93155 жыл бұрын
@@DavidFixesHisShit I noticed you wore a Royals hat a lot in the Moby series, so I wondered. I also was born in, and still live in Lawrence! If you ever get back this way look up the Cold Trailers on FB and we'll get together for a ride. Had about 100 bikes last October for our pumpkin patch ride. We could definitely track you down a loaner. Keep up the great work!
@DavidFixesHisShit5 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks man! I’ve still got cousins and aunts/uncles in Kansas (Overland Park and Newton) so I definitely still get out there occasionally. Especially when the Royals make the post season, but that won’t happen for a while 😜. I truly might take you up on the ride!
@tylerfike93155 жыл бұрын
@@DavidFixesHisShit only 26 more years until the next Royals postseason 😂🤣😭. Damn that was exciting. Mostly hobbits around here, but I ride a Peugeot 103 and a Tomos Silver Bullet. Had a maxi stolen last fall. Couple of Moby's, handful of vintage Vespa scooters, a couple of minnarelli, one Garelli, and some other oddball small displacement bikes. Good community of riders and wrenchers here.

Thanks Peter! I think the workshop is not long for the world. They are building a brewery/bowling alley right next to my place and word is that I’m gonna get kicked out to make room for a parking lot. I’ve been looking for a place to relocate.

Ok, now I see. Metal covers were missing from the onset which I unfortunate because I think they are beautiful but I think you screwed something on to the frame for the electronic, so no idea if you would be able to get them on again.

Hey David I just bought the same bike and I'm thinking of keeping it or selling it for parts becuase I'm worried I won't find parts for it. I'm new to mopeds and picked up 2 mopeds from my neighbor a yello Motobecane 50 like yours and the Garelli VIP both for $250 not running. Do you think I should keep the Garelli? definitely keeping the Motobecane.

Keep em both! Plenty of parts for each on treatland.tv. Welcome to the club!

Back in the day I had to work a paper route to afford a moped. I had a spoiled friend whose Dad bought him everything, and he got him a brand new Garelli top tank.

Can I ask you for some help? Working on a two speed vip. I am struggling with low compression so was thinking piston rings. Do I need to drop the whole engine? I know the cylinder head has a motor mount
@DavidFixesHisShit4 жыл бұрын
You can just remove the head mount and the top bolt and then it will swing down and you can get at the head and piston. You will also have to slack the back wheel and remove the chain. I’ve had to do it about 15 times on this build, so I can prolly get it done in about 10 min, and then another 10 to get it back together. Certainly not very hard...

Uh oh, you got the garelli bug....hope your clutch is ok...... That garelli oil system is awesome tho. Just squirts oil into the fuel tank when you pump it.
