Welcome to the weekly live Q&A with Pastor David Guzik, author of the Enduring Word Bible commentary. After our lead question, Pastor David takes questions via the live chat - simply add your questions & our moderators will arrange & deliver them to Pastor David according to theme or subject!
This week, Pastor David's lead question comes from Pam via email. She writes:
"I have a question. A friend of mine who was a missionary in Africa for years recently died of cancer. Another friend says that God killed her based on Deuteronomy 32:39 where He says “I kill and I make alive.” This person says when someone dies, it is God who has killed him. I think it is a misinterpretation of this scripture, taken out of context. Can you help me?"

This week's questions:
0:00 Greetings and Introduction
1:18 Lead Question
14:45 Historical records tell us that Peter was crucified upside down, not feeling worthy to die the same way as his Lord. Isn't that a bit prideful? As if to show he does something "better" or with more difficulty or suffering, even dying?
17:47 Could Jesus' action in Matt 21: 12-17 of overturning tables in the temple area mean he was not perfect?
21:10 Good afternoon. In 1 Samuel, David and Johnathan seemed to lie and scheme in chapters 20 and 21. They lied to Saul and to the priest Ahimelek. Yet, seemed to have favor from God. Why this exception?
25:05 Does God destine people to hell? I know we all deserve hell, but I specifically mean people made for hell without choice - the Calvinistic view of Romans 9.
27:40 I got confused with your answer about God allow us to die. So it was God who created a world that we are going to die, or is it because of sin ?
28:50 Our pastor says we all have a conscience BEFORE we are born again. Does the Bible teach this? Romans 3 says "there is none righteous, no, not one and so on.
31:55 My question is referring to Luke Chapter 23 verse 31. For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry? Does this refer just to the Romans in AD70?
34:30 Good Afternoon Pastor David! Why do we often see the distinction of "Children of Jacob/House of Jacob" in Scripture, as opposed to being referred to as descendants of A, I & J? (*Moderator mistakenly changed to “Abraham, Isaac & Joseph” instead of Jacob)
36:55 As my ex-husband cheated after legal divorce, is that counted as adultery, and therefore the ground for my prior divorce could be adultery? (📺 See Divorce videos linked above)
42:35 Was curious if you are familiar with "Spiritual Formation" and, if I am correct, how to show Biblically this may not be what people think it is?
46:10 Exactly When Does a Believer Receive the Holy Spirit?
50:00 Why did the king of Israel tear his clothes in 2 Kings 5? we learn from scripture that the tearing of clothes is a sign of Mourning, not Anger. @olivertheemoji5424
52:10 I think that the tree of life represents eternal life BUT why did God say to "guard it unless they take hold of it" and in Revelation, what is the significance of the fruits and leaves?
55:10 Who is one of your favorite early church fathers and why?
56:10 Seeing today's public school system, my family decide to move to homeschooling for my 2 daughters. What is the essential things I should look for in a church that can help me through the process?
57:05 Do I have to pray out loud? or will God, knowing my heart and my thoughts, answer my “unspoken” prayer? I think our devices, Alexa, etc are listening. I don’t feel comfortable praying out loud anymore.
58:17 Hello, do Church "membership covenants" that outline expected behavior frustrate grace (bind us to our word/oath) in that it is more than a "yes"/"no" as to what we will do? Are "house rules" biblical?
1:00:00 I have learned so much from your teachings. I listen to you often.. I would like to visit your ministry in California. Are you still in Brazil?
1:00:55 Hello Pastor 🙋🏽♀ Is there a difference between believing on Jesus and believing in Jesus?
1:01:20 Have you ever considered making a Study Bible? The David Guzik study Bible? Or enduring word study Bible? I’m sure many will be blessed by it.
