Always wonder why CAIN and ABLE are not mentioned in ADAM genealogy??

In my studies … just speculating here …I’m wondering if it’s because their genealogy truly doesn’t matter- both would end at the flood. By following Seth, we get to Noah. By continuing the story we learn about Noah’s sons and life after the flood, all of which leads us to Jesus.

I believe it is because Genesis is rooted in the promise in Genesis 3 where God promises the seed of woman will come to destroy the serpent. Moses is particularly interested in following that seed line of the promised seed to come. And He will sometimes focus in on people to show us they aren't the chosen line through which the Messiah will come or mention how a particular line will impact the seed lineand then will move on. And we also see Satan's failed attempts to thwart God's plan through one rebellion of a kind after another. Cain killed Abel the believer however God never intended Abel to be part of the seed line, but Satan didn't know this. It is actually through Seth's line. Then to Noah. Now who of Noah's son will be chosen Shem. And so on. It's about God choosing according to His sovereignty the line of the Messiah.

According to Dr.Roger Liebi, a very ambitious theologist from Switzerland, the chronology in Matthew shows the direct descendants of Josef to King David and that the chronology in Luke shows the descendants of Mary to a branch of the King David's familiy so thtat both parents are coming from David. Liebi explains this with the differences in words and the hebrew tradition to call the son in law a son, so that in luke it is said that Josef was a son of ...; in Matthew's genealogy the word conceived is used. So there is a distinct difference in the use of words to differentiate the direct descendants of Josef and the line of his wife. Liebi is a real expert in hebrew and greece and other old languages and he has studied the jewish tradtion very cloesly - I think his explanation is convincing and stunning.
