This shows us so clearly in Isaiah 55 that ... v8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. ... as many, like myself, would of thought, without any shadow of a doubt, God would have chosen faithful Joseph for His line to the coming Messiah. 🤔

Love the way that you explained the part of Joseph holding the bow and God helps him from behind holding his hands. My eyes got watery. That’s the same way that God holds us in his arms. A very close encounter to his heart with so much love. Lovely 🙏

Why restore Judah and not others like Simeon or Levi. Because Judah actually repented for his mistakes?

Pastor Lance Replies - Precisely. It seems that Judah's later behavior showed a turn around. Levi and Simeon continued to be hard.

I still don't understand why Christ is in the genealogy of Abraham if Joseph is not his father.

All tribes of Israel are in the genealogy of Abraham. Every son of Jacob/Israel was the great grandson of Abraham.

@@i_cxndy0714 I was answering your question about how Christ could be in Abraham’s genealogy, but look into the difference in Matthew and Luke’s recording of the genealogy of Jesus.

Enduring Word Team: While we may understand "fatherhood" differently in the age of DNA tests and paternity suits, in the Jewish world of the 1st Century, lineage, legal rights, and inheritance were just as valid for considering someone the father of someone as DNA is today. First, let's cover the two accounts. The genealogies of Jesus found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke provide two different family lines, each tracing Jesus' lineage through different ancestors. These differences can be understood in several ways: 1) Genealogy in Matthew: Matthew 1:1-16 provides a genealogy that traces Jesus' lineage through Joseph, His legal father. Matthew's genealogy is divided into three sets of fourteen generations each and emphasizes Jesus' legal and royal descent from King David. This genealogy highlights Jesus' rightful claim to the throne of David, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah. 2) Genealogy in Luke: Luke 3:23-38 offers a genealogy that traces Jesus' lineage through Joseph as well, but it differs significantly from Matthew’s account. Luke’s genealogy goes all the way back to Adam, emphasizing Jesus' connection to all of humanity. Some scholars believe that Luke's genealogy may reflect a different line of descent, possibly through Mary, though Luke explicitly mentions Joseph. This could imply that Luke is providing a more detailed account of the family line, including both *legal and biological aspects.* _Possible Explanations for the Differences:_ 1) Different Focuses: Matthew’s genealogy emphasizes Jesus' Davidic lineage and royal rights, aligning with Jewish expectations of the Messiah as a descendant of David. It is structured to show Jesus as the fulfillment of the messianic prophecies. Luke’s genealogy emphasizes Jesus' universal connection to humanity. By tracing the lineage back to Adam, Luke highlights the inclusiveness of Jesus' mission and His role as Savior for all people. 2) Two Different Lines: Another possibility is that Matthew and Luke are providing different family lines that are both legitimate. Matthew’s genealogy may trace the royal line through David's son Solomon, while Luke’s could trace a different but still legitimate line through another son of David, Nathan. This scenario would reflect two branches of the same family, each with its own significance. 3) Joseph's Lineage: Both genealogies focus on Joseph, who is legally Jesus' father. According to Jewish tradition, *legal descent and claims to inheritance were through the father, even if Jesus’ biological lineage differed.* In summary, the genealogies in Matthew and Luke highlight different aspects of Jesus' identity and mission. Matthew emphasizes His royal heritage, while Luke underscores His universal significance. The differing genealogies reflect the complex nature of historical records and theological emphasis in the Gospels. - Enduring Word Team

1:04 Perhaps: Jacob’s blessing(s): Jacob, on his deathbed, communicates to his sons his (TRUE) recognition of each of their characters. He does this in summarized/condensed verbal form (true short speak) on his deathbed. He does not share this before perhaps because it is the one unique (trustworthy) point in time where he (or any human) will be compelled to share some of THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH that has been illuminated within that person’s Truth Journey. This true recognition of character and its sharing IS a ‘Blessing’ because it illuminates( in a spirit of Trust(dying father/man)) that he Will tell the Truth as he recognizes it)- the TRUTH in each son. Now, from that point on, that blessed son, being Truthfully advised of his character can go forth ‘fortified’ with that knowledge- so that he may freely choose to multiply or diminish his TRUE Gifts(Talents:) )

Great question - Jacob's dual reference to himself as Jacob and Israel - "I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel." - serves to highlight his roles and the transition from his earlier, more individualistic identity (his birth name, Jacob) to his role as the patriarch of the tribes of Israel (his God-given name, Israel). In this context, his judgment reflects a shift from personal to national consequences. As Jacob, he assesses the individual actions and consequences; as Israel, he considers the broader implications for the tribes of the nation. - Enduring Word Team

“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. 9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”
