@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord What does "annoting" mean? It was used in a description of your style of preaching about scriptures, by @jaygraham281. Thanks and blessings for your help. 🙏♥️
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Жыл бұрын
@@nancyhowell4505 The idea of "anointing" is found in the Old Testament. When God chose David to be the next king of Israel, God sent the prophet Samuel to anoint David with oil, signifying that David was God's choice as the next king. The utensils that were used in the Temple in Jerusalem were anointed with oil and set apart for exclusive use in the service of God in the Temple. They were not to be used was common utensils for everyday living, but were set apart for special usage in God's service. Anointing can also mean the literal application of oil for healing purposes, or too pray for physical healing. The idea of anointing also carries with it the idea of something that is chosen or authenticated by God. We might speak of a pastor having an anointing from God, which simply means that he has clearly been chosen by God and that there is noticeable evidence of that the people hear him teach. Hope that this helps! Blessings!

Hi Rose, We are all unworthy to come before God because of our sins, but Jesus paid for our sins, and his righteousness was credited to us. God sees us as holy because we are "in Christ". Ephesians 1:6 tells us... to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. So God accepts us because we are in Christ, and Christ is in us. God sees us as having the righteousness of Jesus. That gives us confidence to ask freely, to pray freely. I hope that this helps.

It's so interesting to see how pastor David approaches James from the perspective of Luther. Meanwhile I truly believe that James stands closer to the source /well: I mean "faith is unimaginable without actions" 1st because the Word himself became flesh 2nd because we are Royal Priesthood to be the representer of the active kingdom.

This Epistle is called Catholic or [meaning] Universal, as formerly were also the two Epistles of St. Peter, the first of St. John and that of St. Jude, because they were not written to any peculiar people or particular person, but to the faithful in general. It was written by the apostle St. James, called the Less, who was also called the brother of our Lord, being his kinsman (for cousins german with the Hebrews were called brothers). He was the first Bishop of Jerusalem. In this Epistle are set forth many precepts appertaining to faith and morals; particularly, that faith without good works will not save a man and that true wisdom is given only from above. In the fifth chapter he publishes the sacrament of anointing the sick. It was written a short time before his martyrdom, about twenty-eight years after our Lord's Ascension.

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Not being aware of your knowledge of Koine Greek, I hesitate to tell you that the word 'coming' isn't actually in the Epistle of James. The whole James 5:7 thing is really a distraction from the total absence of any post Passion consequences.

@@RobTheTruth οὐσία is a form of εἶui the word for "to be", so parousia means to be with. So the word is much more nebulas than "coming". The Church Fathers, assuming that it was a post Crucifixion epistle, simply paraphrased the word as "coming". There isn't the slightest hint of the Crucifixion or any of it's consequences in the Epistle of James. The only Scriptural basis for this is that it hadn't happened yet.

Thanks for this teaching... Just one problem: why do you say that there's half brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, our Catholic faith says Our Lord didn't have brothers or sisters. They were to have been younger than Our Lord, so how do you explain a straightforward statement that Our Lord made on the cross, " Behold, your mother." And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. John 19:27, I won't add v28 " after this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled...Being Jewish, with grown sons and daughters, it would have been an insult to "give" your mother to a stranger. I prefer not to take straight forward verses and give them other meanings.its easy to distort history/ traditions, but we all agree that the Word of God will never change, in fact it's God breathed.
