Hi Dave! I’ve been watching your videos lately and have learned a lot from them. I’ve kept bees for years, started when I was twenty and I’m now seventy four. Was named beekeeper of the year in 2003 then made President for the next four years of our local beekeeping club. I enjoy going to local clubs and schools to give presentations on beekeeping and get a lot of attention with my observation hive. They find the Queen Bee after I have presented them with the pictures on beekeeping. I hope to use the eggs from my Queen Bee to raise my very own Queen Bees this year for the first time in my life. Thanks again for your videos they’re GREAT.

I raised 15 queens and subsequently have 15 successful splits this year so far using the 2 and five frame nucs boxes. Your advice has helped a ton over the years.

I can't wait till I'm in it and over winter my first hive then im going to dabble in queens sounds like everyone is always needing queens and where I don't care to much for money it will help fund my little hobby hopefully!

If you dont have a queen cell to put in the two framer can you just add a frame with fresh layed eggs so the bees can make a queen cell

You can add a frame of brood and they will make thier own queen.

I really appreciate your videos they help a lot of us backyard bee keepers. I have a question about virgin queens when they go out to mate do they come back to the hive each night or do they stay away till they are finished mating? Thanks and God bless you!

I believe that they go back and forth multiple days, typically in the mid day, depending on the weather. I've heard that they mate with as many as 40 drones on various channels.

What do you do with the rest of the bees from the 2 frame if you take the queen and move her to the 5 frame? Do you try to integrate them into the 5 frame as well?

I could raise my own queens, but I can't control all the nasty Africanized bee colonies in the area and the drones they put out.
