It's not just the Nucs, even the packages that I have gotten from Barnyard Bees have built out frames and population has increased so fast it has had me scrambling for equipment to ensure that queen has room to lay. I hop I don't have to buy more packages, but if I do I know where to go to get a great result.

Hey David! Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge of beekeeping with us! This is my first year bee keeping, I've gone from 0 to 17 hives (swarm traps/cutouts/splits). I've been researching since Sept of last year and my bees are healthy and growing because of the information you are sharing. I appreciate you being more concerned about the bees than the money. I metaphorically shake your hand and thank you!

I am glad the video was long. It gave me a full understanding of the cycle system of growing out and expanding your hives, making your own queens, as well as keeping them from swarming. A visual demonstration of how it's actually done is most important for a new bee keeper or potential beekeeper like me. Seeing it done real time is better than trying to explain it in words. Not everyone can follow along with verbal instructions. Audio and visual is key to this business.

I always find it somewhat amazing that you raise and sell bees - and teach people how to split and raise their own bees. You raise and sell queens - and teach people how to raise their own queens. You give all the tips you can to teach people all that they need to do it themselves. Its just one of the many reasons I love Barnyard Bees, but it certainly the biggest of the reasons. Thank you David, great video!

I got a wax coated 10 frame 2 large deeps and small super last week and put it in its place for my first ever bees. Picking up my 5 frame nuc today so I went tonight to check and see if I had gotten a swarm which was my original plan until yesterday. Already got a carpenter bee bored about a foot into my super box.... stuck a long flexible stick in that far and it started buzzing. Is this common??

I'm in CT and just got 2 packages from Barnyard bees. Just like he said, they were sent out immediately after I placed my order along with feeders (I know b/c I got the tracking info right away). 2 Days later I got the feeders but no bees. I call the post office and they have no idea where the bees are, the trail went cold in TN. I asked the post office what they would do if the bees were lost or dead and they said they wouldn't do anything (so they don't take any responsibility financially). 4 days later I get a call at 6:30 am to come grab my bees. I go down and pick them up and get them home. There were more than normal dead (I'd estimate 10%), but that is only b/c it took a week for USPS to get them to me. The bees are now doing well however and are very gentle. Thank You Barnyard Bees for the great bees. I will be making many more orders from you!

I feel like you're talking about me. I asked if Indiana was too far to ship. I also just bought a queen from you; it was shipped out immediately, and it was supposed to arrive here today, but now the P.O. says Saturday. Does it come with instructions on how to introduce it to the existing queen-less hive, or can you link a video? Last Saturday my hive had two deeps full of lots of bees, all cells had uncapped nectar or wet pollen, and the only brood was two capped drone cells. I'm worried I might find a laying worker there this weekend.

David, so glad you mentioned the issues with the US Postal Service. Of course you know my experience (twice) with them and I can only add to your comments to not take what they say on the website or customer service representative on the phone says (they only see the same screen as the website for customers). You must ask for a supervisor and explain that this is a LIVESTOCK shipment and must be moved though the USPS system with the utmost care and urgency. File a CASE immediately, DO NOT WAIT like they will tell you you have to do for at least 48-hours after expected arrival you do not, you have every right to file a case on the expected day of delivery if you have received your normal mail delivery and your bees or queens have not been delivered to your door. And they must be delivered to your door because in this heat of summer they will cook in a mailbox in minutes if not seconds. Hold the USPS accountable. My father is a retired Postmaster and the only way they will improve or change is if they are held accountable by us the public that pay for this service. Finally, if it absolutely has to be there guaranteed it is best to ask for and pay for Express Mail Service and hopefully Barnyard Bees can make that happen if the customer pays that cost. I'll let David answer that part. Finally, of my two shipments ByB did the admirable thing and replaced the order (still a Postal Inspectors Open Case because bees were given to non-recipients) the replacement order still arrived late due to USPS playing games with bee shipments. Heather, Jimmy and David always stood by and helped and communicated throughout both processes. Will always be doing business here.

Im a carrier for USPS. First, you pay nothing for the service, it is welfare. Second, have barnyard bees put your phone # on the package and say urgent call upon arrival. Most clerks are happy to call you at 6 am upon arrival to take them away. Or better yet, be responsible and notify the postmaster that you have bees coming, give them your name # and say call asap.
@popquizzz
@popquizzz 5 жыл бұрын
@@buildingwithtrees2258 I won't get into an argument here, but feel free to email me at gc9731@gmail.com and we can discuss further. I can share with you pages of documentation, emails, and case numbers. As a carrier you should note that your wages are paid for by the public that pays for and uses the USPS. I realize it is not a taxpayer funded enterprise, but considering the failures of the system, if Congress and the public ever decided to remove support and require the USPS to be fully self-supported including no subsidy or preferential treatment given to USPS mail on private air carriers, the USPS would fail within one year. The management practices, facilities and support systems are outdated and over-taxed. To answer your argument about doing the responsible thing to have ByB put my phone number on the package, that should not be required but ok, I'll give you that win. Me calling the Postmaster and telling them I have got bees coming, first order in March I didn't do that and bees arrived on-time in the three days prescribed by Priority Mail. Next order in May, called and talked to Supervisor Craig and Postmaster and told them I was expecting bees, gave them the Tracking Number and they could do nothing because the bees sat on the dock in Atlanta for four days, then they finally got to Tacoma where the package was damaged. They did not call either recipient of the bees to say what happened, they instead tried to say I and the other individual picked up the bees in person (myself and another ByB customer in the area). They even initially lied to a postal inspector and said they had proof I had picked up my bees but never produced that evidence because I was three-hundred miles away in Spokane Washington for that entire day and had the proof to prove it. They finally came clean and said the bees were given to a local beekeeper. Finally, on that following replacement order it took the interference of a regional postal inspector to get involved to find out why my bees sat at the processing center for seventy-two hours before they were on a plane overnighted to Seattle and then on a truck over to my in Central Washington that next day. I still picked the bees up at the regional processing facility here locally to spare the carrier that did not want them in her truck. I know many a beekeeper and supplier that would rather not use USPS if at all possible. When I order queen bees I have them shipped UPS as queens are not shipped with a liquid can of syrup. Thankfully the industry is changing with the introduction of the Bee Buss and gel feed provided. UPS is reviewing its policy on live bees being shipped with a liquid due to this factor. This is good news and I hope we can finally have some competition in this shipping market for live bees. My biggest point in all of this is exactly what David was saying. This only hurt Barnyard Bees. They fulfilled my order at their own out of pocket expense. The Post Office, was difficult to get a hold of often times having to hold for up to an hour before being given the option to have an agent call me back. Agents are worthless on the phone because they will only tell you the same thing you can see on the website (I could write software to do this in about 30-days). There is a free cost saving tip! Navigating the Case System is unnecessarily difficult requiring a human at all times. #2 The USPS LIED about my bees, how in the heck are bees in transit for six days at the same location (Atlanta)? When the bees made it to Tacoma, USPS LIED AGAIN! I could go on and on, but my I will stand by my comments. If it is important to you, insure it and send it Express Mail. At least there you get a guarantee of Postage back if they fail to deliver on-time, and with bees you can also file the insurance claim as bees that are now late are at risk of failing to produce. Everyone needs to be held accountable, but the only ones in this equation that had no culpability were also that ones that could claim no accountability and that is how a business should be measured. Where am I wrong?

I ship birds and only ship out on Monday if they miss the truck and sit over the weekend your finished . Monday ,Tuesday the latest. And I don't go to my local post office I go to the one at the airport . Mine if I get there before 8pm they are put directly on the plane. If you go to your local office and they have two trucks a day they will sit then may have to make a stop at a big terminal and wait for another truck than make a third trip to the air terminal. You need to find the closest acceptance point to the actual air port. It takes me 45 min to drive to the airport USPS terminal but that can save the birds sitting 8or 10 hours waiting for the truck.

@ME_MeAndMyBees
@ME_MeAndMyBees 3 жыл бұрын
Foundation is premade Wax. It's easy for the Beekeeper for Honey Extraction. (Sturdy.) A Strip gets the bees starting on Building Comb. It's fragile unless you add wire or skewers, to add strength. Built comb is Honey Comb, aka you can eat the lot. The Wax and the Honey ! 🍯 * It takes approx a 1lb of Honey / or Sugar to fill x1 frame with Comb (Wax !) Bees have Wax Glands to make Wax, White is new, beige is a bit older, dark is really old... 🐝

You love bees Dave and bees love you :) Dave, do you let them make their queen without any interference on your part (destroying the cells you dont like and such)? Some beekeepers think its better to choose the two largest and best looking cells, others that bees know what to choose? What do you think? Please respond :) Some of my hives are making queens atm... I am considering not interfering at all...

David, do you ship queens out priority or overnight?

Priority is not always 2-3 delivery - USPS doesn't guaranty it will be delivered on time. They try their best to get it there on time. At least that's what I have always been told. USPS have been great this year with getting things delivered on time however.
