The G2 Spunding Valve For Homebrewers From Kegland

I have been using spunding valves for over 10 years. I have used a lot of different types/manufacturers. My current favorite is the Kegland diaphragm one with the analog dial. I can walk past it, and look down, and see the status of the fermentation. The G2 has the dial facing the wrong direction. The diaphragm one with the digital display requires that you push the button to "wake it up". As always, thank you David for your review. I always cherish your viewpoint...

@@DavidHeathHomebrew I've found the digital gauges incredibly inaccurate at low PSI. I bought a stack of them, and run my GF GF30's at 2PSI to keep the air out. I can have one digital gauge show 0 PSI while another says 3. I can then take the one that says 0 off, let it turn off, put it back on and it shows 2. I still use them, but going to switch back to the analogues.

Fair play, certainly the Blowtie has better accuracy. The G2 however is handy for other tasks like keg transfer.

I would opt for the blow tie as it gives you the option to add a blow off tube for a visual of activity.🍻

Looks a lot like the product Keg King have been selling for a while. I bought one but it wouldn’t engage the post. Took it back and LhBS proprietor tried it on several posts in the shop. Eventually he found one it would fit. I guess it’s a tolerance issue and I must have had one on the far end of the range.

First brew with this is on and I have a small leak from the spunding valve. Sounds like it's where the pressure gauge inserts. Any ideas on fixing it?

I would remove it and then take it apart and then put it back together. If that does not fix it then a time for a new one 🍻🍻🍻

Hello. Currently I am using blowtie 2 with integrated digital pressure gauge with Fermzilla . In terms of accuracy shal I go to g2 ? Which has better accuracy?Best regards

The blowtie is for sure more accurate. The digital display makes it even more accurate too. The G2 is handy to have though for pressure transfer or as a stand it if needed.

It is important to note that they do not fit on kegs with a full-length rubber carry handle.

Big no from me. Can’t seem to connect the out to a hose in order to purge your serving keg as you ferment.

Its not designed to do that. The Blowtie does though.

These things don't fit on cocacola corny kegs, but fit allrounder and kegmenter. The fixed plunger needs to be shaved off to work with kegs.

I don't like this kind of spunding because there's no way to make blow off and so it's impossible to know if there's yeast activity... Classic compact diafragm spunding stay the best for me

You don't need a spunding valve. I create my own pressure relief valves using different spring strengths. Most of mine are set at 13 psi. Much cheaper and works just as well.
