you should interview chuck Holton army ranger/war correspondent as he said that the rumors in the spec opps community was that chris stevens used his diplomatic immunity for something that was pretty terrible and indefensible and that he was lured to that location under the guise of a deal for something he wanted that left him vulnerable. i've only heard that from Holton but he's pretty tapped into that world and he would not say that for nothing.

I think the notion that they didn't "participate" in the "firefight" in first place is up for debate from what I gather. Depending on what their actual mission was, which isnt declassified at this point maybe they weren't obligated or allowed to do anything but. Also from my understanding it was those two Delta operators who were responsible for getting to the hospital and bringing the ambassadors body back.
@YouthfulPorpoise14 күн бұрын
Both the book and the movie depicted them arriving after the firefights so they did all they could. They got people off the roof, later recovered the ambassador's body and (don't quote me on this, don't remember exactly) got the mortar team in the sheep field.

The Benghazi Committee has a tick tock of events that night. The Tripoli Team didn't arrive at the Annex until 5am. They were stuck at the airport for 3 hrs. So there was little time for the D-Boys to do anything in defending the Annex from attack. The Amb body was at the hospital, so if they recovered it, great. That doesn't invalidate the story of the GRS Team that were there all night fighting to protect the 36 Americans.

@luddite4change449 The D-Boys received the awards because they recovered the Amb body, probably not because they fought their way to and from the hospital. And not because they fought to save the Annex. The pols wanted to through awards around to keep everyone happy and quiet. Let me add some anger to the story. So, there was a contract "let" to "harden" the Consulate in Benghazi. With this hardening would include perimeter improvements, various other things, but more importantly a "safe haven" was to be constructed. This safe haven has special ways of protecting the "inhabitants". Can't go into specifics. If this work was done the Ambo would probably be alive today...Work like this comes out of OBO (Over Seas Building Operations) which is a Department of State group that builds, renovates and modifies US Embassies, Consulate and US Missions. It is generally autonomous from "Main State" and has its own Director. This contract was awarded by OBO and before it was given NTP (Notice to Proceed) it was cancelled. Cancelled by "Government Convenience" as the term goes. No fault to the contractor. Kicker. The contract was not cancelled by OBO it was cancelled by Main State or "others" which means the contract was not what it seems...again, got to be careful here... Who was running the DoS at the time....Clinton....I know the thread will either call me a liar or prove it. But I can't. All I can tell you is that I have been in this business for over 20 years and may or may not have been working for a company that had the contract...Just know it goes deeper than just the shooting. This whole thing could have turned out differently...if the company was aloud to start and finish the job in hardening the site. I can tell you this was not the first time it happened to a company in similar circumstances...No deaths, but contracts canceled out of the blue and then to find out weird circumstances...
@Ripper13F1V14 күн бұрын
Agree, all roads point to either Clinton or her vices. The CIF team was initially assigned to the protection detail before this all transpired. Once AMBO's arrival was immenent, they were re-routed to a training event. They didn't decide this, SoS did, or again her vices. Just doesn't make sense, or rather, it does in a way. When the "Bob" of the annex facility sat there and listened to the radio traffic and calls for help it was thought that he received an order to do nothing. That may be just a lack of training/experience/character thing or it could be true that he was given an order. And if he was given an order it would certainly seem that SoS and vices are either inept or were nefariously plotting to get rid of the AMBO. I for one just want to know the truth no matter what. And I think a lot of people do. We're big boys and girls we don't need things dumbed down for us.
@KTzu21314 күн бұрын
Obama did it. Not Killary. IT is known that Obummer hated the Ambo. He set up the Ambo for failure. If you watch Killary's face during the hearing, she looks really surprised when they requested more military support and she supposedly denied it.

It’s all so exhausting,this guy did this,this guy really didn’t do this. This guy claimed to do this, but didn’t this guy cannot remember. I mean, Jesus Christ I can’t remember what the fuck I did yesterday. I can’t imagine the level of adrenaline and fear no matter how seasoned these guys are who knows. The team then disobeyed him when they said they were going to die over the radio ...I know that's a different part of the story than the delta guys coming in but thought it would be worth sharing

Tier One operators leaving a safe environment (Tripoli) to go to dangerous environment (Benghazi) to do their job, is not heroic - it is what is expected of individual performing that role. It is absurd to push for upgrading any medals they received to the CMH, without knowing what they did! More facts, less speculation!
@brandondague14 күн бұрын
Well two things. Rarely will you have Tier 1 operators receive medals for heroic actions regardless of what they are unless they die. Once they receive the MOH, they become high profile...and active Tier 1 operators and being high profile does not mix. The second thing is, I am sure there would be a long list of tier 1 operators that qualify for the MOH if it wasn't for the fact that most of the missions they do these actions on are highly classified. Getting a MOH on somewhere we shouldnt be or doing is not a good look. Plus most of these guys are quiet professionals and dont want that medal anyway...means shit went wrong if you get a MOH.

As someone who has written over 100 awards, I am somewhat familiar with the processes. I believe the sticking issue for the M of H is that the award packet must contain to eyewitness statements from Americans. If there were only two people on the ground then you are short one eye witness. This is the issue that came up with those two young marines who stood their ground against the truck born in Iraq; the awards required American eyewitnesses not Iraqi military eye witnesses. I believe the closest example of autonomous acts being recognised where Gary Gordon and Randy Shugart Who were being watched by a drone, thus more than just CW3 Durant’s.

It took until I was a mid grade LTC with a dysfunctional boss to string 3 days in a row, so I submitted my retirement, got the surgical repairs I needed for my shoulder and neck. It has a good deal of info setting the scene in Benghazi before the 9/11/2012 attack on Stevens. He was there on behalf of some shady people buying weapons from an AQ group and furnishing them to a group in Syria. He also claims he responded to assist Ambassador Stevens and mentions people he encountered there. He also said he went to the CIA compound and helped others, whom he names , there fend off the first attacks on that compound from the roof. It offers a lot of info I haven't read elsewhere. It’s a little weird. A tier 1 operator is sitting in the movie 13 hours with his wife. The movie is about the what happened in Benghazi. And lo and behold two of his friends are also watching the movie. Those two disagree with what was in the movie. Sounds like a soap,opera doesn’t it. Anyway there is disagreement on what some of the people who were there had to say that others disagree with. My take on this where Americans were defending this Special Mission in Benghazi is the some people who were there completely disagree with the Delta operators. So there you go. More than enough dirt to go around. What time did these two Delta operators get to Benghazi, just curious.

Nobodys mad because you say theres a different story than whats been told. People get mad when you dont tell that other story and bring receipts. When there is a generally accepted truth, its up to the people refuting that truth to dispel it with reciepts. So until the Delta Force comes forward with that they will have to live with whats been established.

@cdmobley114 күн бұрын
If I was on the rooftop of one building and someone else was on the other side, we both would have different stories to tell. I'm not saying that anyone is lying, just the perspectives are different. Both of those Delta guys were still in at the time of the book and movie. They couldn't say anything about what happened. If they could have them I'm sure both the book and movie would have shown that.
@letsssgooo461814 күн бұрын
The government lets these guys get away with this stuff tho. Like Rob O’niell. They should have said he was full of shit from the start. Same with Luttrell but I think the government might of actually pressured him into his new story. Instead of his story during his first live interview where he said he dropped his gun and froze.

it's ridiculous to expect complete agreement between people just bc they experienced the same event. Even if they were next to each other (eg on the same roof), they could have differences of opinions as to both what did happened and what should've happened. The "truth" means both that someone believes that what they're telling you is accurate & complete, but people also assume that "the truth" will be as exact a recollection as if it were narrating a video. And, if I'm not mistaken, the Delta-duo showed up only for the last firefight after 5am. Which was yes, the worst per all accounts - but they weren't even present the prior events. I'm curious to know their exact disagreements. But wouldn't be surprised (if unlike _Survivor)_ the details they take umbrage with don't materially change events or opinions of most.

Unfortunately the bad thing about movies about real events things are often changed for Hollywood purposes like if a director may think something won’t work for his movie they change it and that is extremely unfortunate especially for movies about these traumatic and incredible events Even Peter berg admits in an interview if you watch the special features on the lone survivor he says the movie is not. Exactly as it happened son things had to be changed for theatrical purposes who’s sucks

The question that needs to be answered first is why were they sent there? Sending two guys to help a team under fire from all the way from where they were seems a bit underwhelming. Sending two guys to make sure that sensitive data does not become public knowledge seems more plausible. I don't think the D Boys reluctance to come forth is due to bashfulness, they probably don't want or cannot put themselves into the position where they have to tell stupid easily debunked lies to cover why they were really there and stir up even more unwanted drama.

Not sure why you aren't naming the Delta Operators. The names are out. Delete if you think necessary. Benghazi Evacuation During the 2012 Benghazi attack, two Delta Force operators along with five CIA personnel accompanied Glen Doherty to aid the besieged Benghazi Embassy compound, after commandeering a small jet in Tripoli by paying the pilots $30,000 and forcing them to fly the team to Benghazi. After fierce fighting, the rescue team including the two Delta operators assisted in evacuating the surviving diplomatic staff to the main Embassy in Tripoli. For their courage and bravery, one of the Delta operators, Master Sergeant David R. Halbruner, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, while the other, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Tate Jolly, who had passed Delta selection, was awarded the Navy Cross. While confusion was still reigning and with the possibility that the US ambassador had been seized by militants, a Delta squadron was forward deployed from Afghanistan to conduct a possible rescue, ultimately it was not required. At the time of the attack, small teams from CIA SAD and JSOC were both conducting operations in Libya - most probably advance work on the later 'snatch' missions conducted by Delta Force.[65][66] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_operations_conducted_by_Delta_Force#:~:text=Benghazi%20Evacuation,-During%20the%202012&text=For%20their%20courage%20and%20bravery,was%20awarded%20the%20Navy%20Cross.

Interesting how these guys are “debunking” all of these stories years after they happen. Seems like they’re a bunch of clout chasing clowns. It’s only the big stories and names in the SOF veteran community they go after..wonder why. The Unit guys there that night didn’t participate in the firefight and threw Rone’s body off the roof of a building. Tanto said recently that he is interested to know why they didn’t come up and help (even to replace them shortly for breaks).
@sullyisburned0411 күн бұрын
Seems like it’s all pretty moot really. If the two operators who were “there” aren’t talking, and the guys who “know a guy who was there” are, then it’s best to defer to the 4 surviving GRS members we know for a fact WERE there right? It’s all pretty immaterial to the story. If these guys want everyone to know what their role was in it, they need to speak up. They could have been doing all kinds of things around Benghazi from 5am until extraction that GRS didn’t know about, but if you want it to get out so bad then say what those things were. Otherwise who gives a shit.

Tiegs and others made the professional mistake to ever mention how the two men’s bodies were recovered and evac’d. The family never needed to know how things are done. Remember, the buildings there are not to code as we know them. That much weight on a 3rd world exterior ladder is not like here, They will fail. The second part is not as easy. When under fire and breaking contact you may be required to do things that are not pleasant. Time is life to those still fighting. Again, the families never needed to know this detail. Ask Tonto about getting fired from BW for leaving his blaster at a venue…… twice.

Overall I can see a lot of Fanbros super upset they were lied to yet again by their heroes. Guys and girls that dont know how UW works won’t understand, the Tanto lovers, he did good things that night but then made a huge mistake by lying for 12 years. He’s made alot of money over the last 12 years peddling his “D boy” lie. It’s not what happened and you all will see, I tend to believe in guys who weren’t paid 800$ a day to do their job and risked everything to get Americans outta that Annex. And then received the nations second highest Valor award.

Everything I read about Ambassador Stevens strongly suggests that the reason he had less-than-stellar security around him may have been due to him. I know there are lots of folks that watch this channel that are likely Obama and Clinton haters. But what if most of that debacle was due to Steven's efforts to present a friendlier, more diplomatic mission? What if Obama and Clinton saw Steven's genuine enthusiasm and acquiesced to lesser security? I know this doesn't fit the hater's narrative, but I am interested if any new information supports this theory. Everyone on the ground there were heroes, but fault may not be what we have been told.

The problem with any of this, about what truth is. There is only objective truth and none of that is going to be accurately relayed. It’s all person perspective and opinion. Opinion from delta, opinion of GRS and perspective in combat. I’d love to hear what they say, but it needs to be framed as their opinion not the “truth” so to speak. I’m a fan of hearing all sides and looking forward to hearing what these guys have to say.
@CritCareJunkie14 күн бұрын
You ALWAYS do this thing where you say “I know who these guys are, but I’m not going to tell you…” either keep it to yourself or say the damn names. Also, why are you censoring the names being mentioned by the Delta operator? I think he would know better if he didn’t think it was okay to say those names. He JUST got through telling you that he thinks it’s silly for people to still be censoring that information…and you censor it anyway! Lmfao.
@MD69BarrelKilla13 күн бұрын

@CritCareJunkie13 күн бұрын
@ I know the names are public. My point is there is a trend in his videos where he blatantly states that he knows who or what “X” is, “but I’m not going to say.” How about you either say the names or just don’t mention that you know them in the first place. Of course these names are public. The delta operator in his videos openly states the two names without hesitation, but he censors both names. It’s more of an attempt at gatekeeping than it is protecting the persons identity. Hell, why say to the delta operator “I know who these guys are, but I’m not going to say their names” when it’s obvious the delta operator knows the two guys, so why tell that to him? To impress him and show him that you’re “in the know?” It’s all ridiculous and it’s constant trend in these videos.
