I had been on the hunt for a 7D for years, and it took forever cause I wanted a really nice one that hadn't been used within an inch of it's life. I finally found one last week - and it is "mint" as it appears to have been used very little. Came with the 18-70 lens, remote shutter release, charger, three batteries and original neck strap in a case. Apparently the owner's father bought it new and barely used it. I paid $150 for it, which I feel was quite a good deal. I have quite a few cameras ranging from modern to film - and I usually seek out interesting ones as a challenge. With modern cameras like my Lumix G9 & Leica lenses it is almost too easy to get a great shot - so I have been collecting older / interesting cameras (Minolta 7d, Pentax Q, Lumix GF1, Nex7, etc) to present a challenge. Like most things in life, diversity is the spice - and I have enjoyed working around the other / old / uncommon system's flaws and limitations to get great photos.

I have just bought one where the seller told me the flash is not working - I love that because I hate flash, look forward to receibving it to test some lenses from the Minolta 5 film camera I favour. I use several DSLR up to the Nikon D800 and Canon 1Ds Mark 111 with L lenses but I look forward to going out around with the Minolta when I get it. I know its limitation as regards enlargements , will probably be goiod enough up to 10 X 15 or thereabouts. Got it for 52 Euro plus 20 post from Germany. I find the Germans to be unusually honest!

I bought my Dynax 7D brand new and have never had the time to use it. Now that I am retired, I want to learn how to use it. It is now November 2024 now, and I have just unboxed it. Where can I find a series of videos on using my brand-new camera ?. Thank You in advance.

Always wanted that the 7D, having used a 7000i for a long time during my studies. Managed to find one with lenses and accessories at a second hand shop for 135€, it was a steal. Only problem is the rubber

If it still works, it's still a very good camera. I love the colors of the CCD sensor. A lens that suits this camera very well is the Konica Minolta AF 17-35 F2.8-4, excellent image quality considering its price. I have used it for years with very good results, at F8-F11 for landscapes it is excellent, even a bit better than the much more expensive Minolta AF 17-35G. It is also very good for interiors and for almost all day use.

Very interesting. My one and only flirtation with Minolta was in the film era - the first camera I bought new was an XD7 and I lost it (the camera as well) in Canada in the 1990s. This one intrigues me. I really like the layout and I know there's good glass available. Will it compete with my favourite digital though - my lovely 5MP Kodak CCD packing Oly E-1? Thanks to you - i'm going to find out! (Caveat - doesn't stand a chance on lenses😊). All the best from a cabin in a swamp in a rain-forest in New Zealand.

What strikes me about the beautiful images from this camera is the 3D rendering (the 3D pop as they say). Even the 18-50mm shows that dimensionality. Do you attribute this characteristic to the sensor or the lenses? Or both?!
@GrandadsReviews
@GrandadsReviews Ай бұрын
I think it's more likely the lens as I have a number of lenses and they don't all have the 3D pop as it is called.

@ thanks for your reply which is interesting. Which lenses are you favourites in terms of rendering and ‘3D pop’? In the video it states the lens used on an initial photo or two is the Minolta 18-50mm. I couldn’t find that lens. Was it instead the 18-70mm?

I bought one used in 2012 and used it for many years. Because of the CCD sensor this camera can take beautiful colour pictures. Unfortunately, mine one stopped working. I tried to buy another one, but without success: I both three or four and every one of them was faulty. Still works my Sony Alfa A35, but the colors are different...

Minolta sold the photography division to Sony, but not the image and color division (since that was what Konica Minolta was going to continue with). The Sony A-350 was the last camera with the Minolta A-mount and a CCD sensor (14Mp) , they are not the same colors as the Minolta 7D but they are quite similar (because of the lenses of course). I recommend it if you can find it, it is usually very cheap. This was one of the first cameras with an optical finder and live view on the LCD, if not the first DSLR to have Live view.
