That was really cool, if you ever come to Germany (idk if you've already been there), there is a Sommerrodelbahn near the Zugspitze which i can recommend for the adrenaline. It doesn't have a railing like the others, more like a half pipe shaped track where you go down with the sleds. The downside is that you can fall out of the corner which is why it has only 3 stars on Google maps I've driven it when i was around 12 and it was awesome

@davidjellis8 жыл бұрын
That’s the same ride - very unfortunate video that one, as the girl and her family shouldn’t have stopped on the ride to admire the scenery (stopping on the tracks is not allowed under the ride’s safety instructions), however the boy idiot should have accepted there were people in front of him and slowed down to avoid such a collision. Not a good advert for these amazingly fun rides.
@Terestrasz8 жыл бұрын
Very. : the guy still was a douche though, he yelled at her for ruining the ride, yet she had to brake because there were people in front of her, and her family should have just waited rather than "hey let's go down together". :

In case anyone actually wonders: those signs say "please hit brakes". It's usually okay even if you don't, but these signs are mainly there because some people underestimate the centrifugal force in the curves and hurt themselves being thrown around a bit. It basically warns you about the "worst" parts of the track. Also: if the track gets wet, it can actually get dangerous, in that case you really want to hit the brakes in those parts. Oh, it's possible some of the signs are also there to warn hikers not to get to close to the track. The video is too shaky to actually read what they say. Edit: I looked it up, there are actually some pretty terrifying accidents that happening every now and then, but most of them are due to impatient people losing control and hitting the driver in front of them. There were some kids falling out of the tracks as well. So yeah, a little bit of braking does no harm.
@davidjellis3 жыл бұрын
Like all rides, it pays to follow the safety instructions...however the ride is safe to do at full speed if you have a clear run ahead of you - it is designed to limit the speed to around 27mph...many of these have been retrofitted with auto braking to avoid people rear-ending others, but sadly it has taken all the fun out of it - many of the resorts encourage you to ride full speed to avoid causing delays and accidents, so I guess it's just about being sensible and reacting to what is happening in front of you.
@joanneaugust66113 жыл бұрын
@@davidjellis Yes, that was what I meant when I said people often underestimate the forces on the track. I think it's not so much about gliding off (which should only happen if something went really wrong and is not the rider's fault), but more about your body being pressed into one direction, which you obviously react to by leaning to the inside, if you notice the curve (is that even the right word?) in time. If you don't, you're not gonna have a deadly accident, but you might get some bruises and stuff.
@davidjellis3 жыл бұрын
@@joanneaugust6611 Yes - you do need a dose of common sense to ride these at full speed...you have a seatbelt but still need to balance properly.
