The two sisters from the first store. They better not be there when I go there, otherwise, I might end up buying all that they're selling. Their lovely faces coupled with cute smiles, they got me tantalized!

Empanadas originated in Galicia Spain but were introduced to the Philippines during the Spanish colonization. Filipinos have their own version of Empadas as well as Mexicans & Latin Americans colonized by Spain. Btw: there are different varieties of UBE. I think there are about 5 different kinds of UBE. I can remember. There is one particular UBE that's naturally sweet which is grown in Bohol Island as far as I know.

Cool vids in the Philippines, David! New subscriber here. Interesting that the lady said that empanadas aren't Filipino. They totally are in that they have become our own through the centuries. Many of our foods are like that. We can still proudly call them Filipino. By the way, to pronounce "salamat," put the emphasis on the "la" and you'll sound more like a native. :) Aw wish you got that lechon. Looked so good! And Cebu just does it a little different but all are good. While you're in Manila hope you can drop by the restaurant, Manam. Good quality Filipino food. Any of their popular dishes, plus their bibingka de leche, and any of their shakes, like their mango pomelo sago.

Hi, first time commenting. Welcome to the Philippines - World’s Leading Beach Destination and World’s Leading Dive Destination winner in 2022 at the 29th World Travel Awards. We were also voted anew as the World's Best Country Tourism Destination in 2022 at the Uzakrota Global Travel Awards (Turkish travel organization). Also, Palawan was named "The Most Desirable Island in the World" by UK-based travel magazine Wanderlust for 2022. (It was also Travel + Leisure’s "Best Island in the World in 2020.) While Boracay is Conde Nast Readers Choice Best Island in Asia for 2022 (it was SIARGAO in 2021). And Boracay is also included in TIME Magazine's 'World's Greatest Places of 2022'. :) IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES! 🇵🇭

We noticed that you miss out on pronouncing the 't' at the end of 'salamat'. Add 'po' at the end. It is exactly 'khrap' (or 'kha') in Thai terms. So, 'salamat po' is cool to say. Great vid as always.

Empanadas are actually a Mexican thing. We've traded with the Mexicans for centuries through the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. This also explains why some Filipinos have native american genes and some mexicans have austronesian origins.
@homerbulos
@homerbulos Жыл бұрын
@@apinezstats2237 I read that Nanay and Tatay are Nahuatl (Mexican language). Question though, are their empanadas the same though? Because our tamales and adobo are not the same with the Spanish/Mexican versions. Same names, but different. Just because Jollibee has burgers, it’s still Filipino.
@apinezstats2237

@@apinezstats2237 Yup. I’m still surprised why we are so confused with our identity. If it’s here, it’s Filipino. Just because we’re Americanized or Latinized, that’s still us, Filipino!
