RIP GoPro. I started the shift moving from GoPro 11 to the Action 4. I consider getting this one and turning my Action 4 to be my secondary camera (in those scenarios where I use more than one action camera). Having this higher capacity battery kipping the same form factor (unlike the latest GoPro), is a brilliant move by DJI. As someone invested in the Action 4, adding the Action 5 to my gear (or switching to it) is an easy decision.

there are already comparisons out there. and from the looks of it, the answer (to me at least) is a no. there are instances that the 5's AI messes up and makes the overall quality worse than the 4

The DJI Mic 2 is doing the 32 bit float recording internally. Unfortunately still no cameras out there recording 32 bit float internally

How can the 5 Pro have a lower recording bitrare compared to the 4? This is absurd. Users should be given the option of selecting a higher bitrate setting at the expense of lower battery life and higher heat output. DJI must add this to a firmware update. The bitrate is too low on the 5 Pro.

I only bought the 4 not so long ago. Wish I had waited. The in built internal storage is awesome. I've lost count how many times I have for got my memory card. This camera looks amazing. I was so underwhelmed by the new go pro. When I watched the release video of this. I was truly blown away by the quality of the video. It looks incredible.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the detail you provide. I’m looking forward to the low light review and have a request. Most of the low light reviews I see are things like city streets at night but I film hunting videos. They can start 30 minutes before sunrise (yeah very dark) with no artificial light. And things are moving. I know it’s a niche but no one does any thing in this setting. Might apply to hikers, campers or other out enthusiasts. Hope you can squeeze it in. Currently using a Hero 11 Black.

Interesting question, but one neat thing about the Mic2 is that the transmitter records internally itself, can even do 32bit float. So then you can just use that with any other video you want. Adds a step, I know, but it's smoother than extracting the audio from one video camera to then use on another.

Great video, just bought this based off it. Im a portrait photographer and not really into wide angle cams. I retuned the Pocket 3 because it was just awkward to use IMO. Couldn't really attach it to me. But this is super small and portable I can clip on to my shirt and would be great for BTS video. Looking forward to testing it

That's tough! The Pocket 3 has a 1" sensor, so it's going to perform incredible even down in low light situations. The Pocket 3 is also running a gimbal head instead of digital image stabilization, so that's a big benefit. I think use case to use case, you would have to decide. When we go out traveling, I'm usually using an action camera because I can film things and then quickly stuff the camera in my bag. But if I'm setting up shots or trying to get really smooth movements, the Pocket 3 comes in clutch!

It is time to upgrade my old GoPro 8. I imagine the 5 Pro has better image quality. Its battery life and low-light capabilities are just what I need. Add in the extended battery life handle and I'm good to go.

I have OA4 and was waiting for OA5 Pro but now I have doubts whether to buy it. There are some things improved but I feel like OA5 Pro has strong HDR on all the time. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it ruins the image. I have OA4 and Pocket 3 and it seems to me that this set matches better in terms of colors. OA5 has less natural colors.

I would say to buy the Adventure Combo and then pickup a DJI Mic 2 separately. The Adventure combo is the best setup because you get three batteries, the case, and the pole. Then add in the Mic 2 and you're set!
