Hey David , I’ve had my epix 2 for about a month now , played a few rounds but when I get the green it doesn’t seem to pick up my putter shots , it’s not asking me to select the putter after the shot like it does with all the other shots , any help would be appreciated?

For putting distances etc you’ll need the CT10 sensors otherwise it will just give you the number of putts

I use it all the time. Because it gives you an exact distance to the pin 🙂

question for you I am having a hard time choosing either the s70 or the Epix Gen 2......can get the s70 for 949.00 ( Canadian ) 717.00 ( US ) or the EPIX GEN 2 for ( 1077 .00 Canadian ) ( 784.00 US )............i am an avid golfer but i want an every day all around great watch ( health tracking , fitness tracking , golf tracking and great bells and whistles ) which do you think would be the best all around watch for me ? thx a bunch....cheers from Canada

Awesome video as usual 🔥 I also got an Epix 2 a few weeks ago (my first smart watch, bought specifically for golf) and love it. Do make sure to update the firmware! The latest firmware shows a green slope heatmap for many courses, and there's also a new swing tempo training app included. Also HOW ON EARTH DID YOU BOMB THAT 340 YARDS?! Teach me your secret 😡

That’s awesome mate, was that a recent update? I did update it but I’ll plug it in again and see if there’s one to add on.

@@davidmaxfieldgolf They added it in 9.35 but that also introduced battery drain, which got improved in 9.36 (I have Always On Display disabled which gets me near 2 weeks of battery life without activities). Not all courses support it. If it doesn't you should see a gray notice with an exclamation mark on top of the first hole's green view.

@@davidmaxfieldgolf Do you have Garmin Golf Premium? You need that for it to be enabled. I just checked and if it's enabled but not supported you see a little white notice icon with a red "!". If you press it it says "contour data is not available for this course".

Great video! I also have the Epix Gen 2 watch and love it. I also have the club sensors on my clubs. The data gathering to the Garmin app is awesome. The more you use it the better data you collect and the more accurate the Virtual caddie becomes on your club recommendations. Like with the dedicated Garmin golf watches, you get analysis and suggestions on your driver, approach, chips and putting games with provides great info for refining your practice routines. I like the smaller form factor, AMOLED touch screen and the nearly endless tracking and screens you can use with this watch. I gave my scope to my son and just use the watch. You can even set the watch to give distance based on “Play like distance” which is helpful for slopes and it even has wind readings. It also has a pin pointer if you aren’t sure where the pin is located. Not bad for a non-golf-dedicated smart watch!

@@davidmaxfieldgolf - That would be great! It would also be great to show folks how to use the watch. The channel "Let's Play Through" had a video on this watch, which was the main reason for me buying one. But I find the videos on detailed use of the watch in short supply. I realize that unless you have the golf course to yourself and be playing by yourself, that it is difficult to go into too much detail as it takes time to film the watch and then the course and explain the features of the watch and how it helps you. The documentation from Garmin is not real detailed. Even having the watch off the course, usually lets you pull up a course nearby, which can allow detailed explanations of each of the settings. Great video as it showed me some uses that I wasn't using. Also, great video on use of this watch for exercise and working out. It was very detailed. Having my own channel and making videos, I realize that there is a lot of work that goes into making these videos, including shots of watch, graphics, text into a good video and you do a fantastic job. Thanks again for all your work and congrats on the Garmin ambassadorship!!

i had a cracker day with the driver yesterday ( never use it) but it had me using a 56 all day instead of my favoured 52, needless to say i ended up in the low 90's instead of low 80's.😬 walked away not knowing what to feel. I'm using the Golfshot Pro app with all my preferred lay-up distances pre set

@@davidmaxfieldgolf yeah funny how a little pocket caddy can save you from the "hero" shots all day and a comfortable 10 strokes😂 my local course is really tight and short so a driver isn't the play. it just gets annoying not using a driver😂😂 so in non important comps i dust the cobwebs off it

You want exact use a range finder not a watch and move the flag

Yeah a laser is great obviously but it won’t give you the birds eye view of how much room you have on the green behind or before the pin. What you could get though is the Garmin Z82 rangefinder. That does both 👍🏼

I have the S42($299) and honestly pulled range finder out maybe 5-7 times all yr, you just dont need it. As David said the watch gives you overhead view which allows you to play smarter. Sure a finder may tell you 117 exact to pin, but how much room in front or behind do you have to play with? Heres a perfect example. Last week. Green is sloped so couldnt see back, ball in light rough at 168 yards with water short and marsh behind. Watch instantly teels me back of green is 189. I can hit a 5 over that green, but not a choked down 6. I ripped that choked down 6 to 3 ft for tap in birdie. By watch telling me back of green, which finder couldnt see, it allowed me to rip a shot confidently knowing worst i do is a bit long….but safe. I play off of 9, with all new clubs, a grip change, swing change and stance change. Still not comfortable with it all yet, so that 9 will be a 5-6 next yr. One thing i can tell you about golf if you didnt know, always firing at pins will not lower your score, smarter golf will. So while you are firing at that range finder pin distance 3 paces over bunker, my watch will tell me i have 10 yards behind pin to play with. I,ll hit bit deeper and putt for birdie while you splash outta bunker because you are trying to be to precise. Watch opens a whole new level to the game, a smarter level.

You are missing the point, your watch can tell you front middle and back of the green, you don’t know where the pin is? Doesn’t matter if you can move the flag you are guessing. I’m not disagreeing that the watch is handy but for certain handicap levels I think as you will never see a pro using a watch in practice

@@clints8888 Well thats false, many pros use them. Bryson uses one quite often. Many ppl said the same thing about sensors and now they are coming out on many clubs pre-formed in to grips. As tech gets better and watches add slope you will start to see them everywhere. Thats the only reason i ever pulled my finder out, no slope on watch. And its not rocket science to move pin very close, within a yard of actual, do it all the time. And lets be honest, how many amatuers are firing within 5 yards of pin most of the time?

Fuzzy banana. You might be missing the point you can still only get the pin distance with a range finder right? A watch would be fine for a 10+ handicapper hoping to hit greens in reg. but from a professionals point of view i want exact distances to pins and distances to carry green side bunkers
