Hi David and thanks for the elaborated content ! when learning more about agile method, I learn that FDD is an agile framework ! i don't understant why FDD is considered so while the principle of feature driven development and model driven development is the development of a family of product ! furthermore, there is no increments in FDD. I used feature development in the past to develop a product line of user interfaces ! thanks in advance for clarifying your point of view !

Hey Thouraya, really good points! The PMBOK encourages any method to be tailored to your circumstances. For me, FDD is iterative and incremental - we're developing increments (features) and incrementally improving based on the feedback we receive. They could be features making up a single product, or a family of related products, as you said.

Thanks David for this explanation. My question is, I still can build my product features incrementally using Scrum or Xp or kanban, so why the FDD is considered as a methodology itself ? It looks like it is a guid for how to breakdown your product according to the features.

Great question Mohammed. Scrum and Kanban will be the methods of delivering (the "how"), while FDD means we design and develop by feature (the "what"). Each idea contributes to how we see Agile today, which is why they might seem to merge into one 🙂

What is the difference between FDD and Incremental? or are they really the same?

Good question - they are similar. FDD is a Framework, while Incrememental is a project development approach. So FDD will have its principles and other practices, but it is essentially an "Incremental" development approach.
