7:20 How deep should the regeneration zone be? I heard 90cm deep...Is that 90cm of gravel.
@scrumpymanjack3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure David is talking about the water depth, not the depth of the substrate.
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nandodando, The regeneration zone can slope down to 1m deep for the large lilies. Especially for warmer climates, basically the deeper the better. Normally, the depth of water slopes down to 70cm (with 30cm of gravel layers) but it all depends on the size of the pool and the space available.

Would you be able to say if fish could live in one of your ponds without hurting the balance? Or if a pong could be built in a hot climate?
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler3 жыл бұрын
No fish. see my other films for example of pools other people have made in warm climates.

So what happened to Frans pool, did you fix it?

I was under the impression that gravel was an option for these pools? I know he have used sub soil for his own ponds in the manual and videos which I own. I am half way through making my own and had intended to use just 20mm gravel... Anyone else with experience of substrates? If using gravel for the bulk of it would sand or soil mixed through help?

Hi Brian, a 50:50 mix of sand and gravel/ pea shingle is used in most cases.

@@organicpools-davidpaganbutler I'm half way through doing a reasonable size pool, the generation zone is deep enough I think, as it's on clay do you think I could just cut through the gio textstyle Iv put under the gravel and just plant my plants directly into the clay? I intend to have airlift pumps running perforated pipe under the shingle.iv diverted all my roof water into my pond so I'm now waiting on the rain and being a big roof I think it will fill it fairly quickly. Every one thinks I'm mad but Iv been following you and your ponds for sometime, I have faith 😃😆

Son might enjoy yoga more if he didn’t have a magpie on his back trying to attack him 😂. Question- is it possible to have koi in an organic pool ie dual purpose?

Hi David, not that it's personally bothering me but I think that Fran might be revealing a bit more here than she intended. 9:15 . I would suggest that if you can't edit the video, delete this comment. Would have sent you a private message but didn't see the option.

I am getting conflicting reports on how to deep the regeneration zone should be...Anything from 30 - 100cm? I have also read that 100cm is needed to form a decent biofilm. I'm in Cape Town SA , Mediterranean climate Was this the minimum you talked about - 15 cm shingle and 15cm sand and shingle mix (30 cm in total ) in this video - ..- kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXPIi6OiicRoo80 Thanks - absolutely love your video's - CLASSIC!

Cearly very frustrating experience - student promises the world (ie. goat yoga), goes away, ignores everything you taught her about pool dimensions/ratios, doesn't bother with the plants bit and then, on top of all that, fails to deliver on the goat front. Good thing you only had to drive 300 miles to get there!
