This is great topic…..watched it and directly implemented it in my organic pool design i am currently sketching…….gravel or pebbles is ideal cause they move around walking on them, releasing any sediment, algea or other impurities attached to them…….in worse case can even simply remove all for cleaning. In my previous organic pool used sandwash but now design in gravel/pebbles……..slope 1:6 gradient. Thanks to highlight this topiv

Hey David, wonderful work as usual. Entertaining and incredibly insightful. Do you do consulting work? We are close to starting the process of converting a pond on our property to an organic swim hole. I would love to use your consulting services - if your willing - before beginning this project to ensure we’ve thought through the process correctly. Cheers!

If you use light or dark blue gravel will that make the clear water of a natural pool look blue?

Hallo David, in Portugal much houses have borehole, is the water of borehole is good to make a eco pool? Thanks
@gert-jan55732 жыл бұрын
Does the plant filter have to be three meters wide or can you make it two meters and compensate the rest with making the concrete wall a bit higher? Reason i'm asking is that we would like to make a swimming pond with a swimming area of roughly 3*7m maybe even 3*10 ( depends on how big the yard wil actualy be after the house is built). As far as i can extrapolate we wil have ample space lenght wise, but we might come up short in the width if three meters is a must.

This would make a lot of shallow water which is prone to heating and algae. Better to step down at the edge, then the slope.

I’m wondering whether a fiberglass shell pool can be converted or is the concrete wall required?
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler2 жыл бұрын
Yes a fiberglass shell will work.

I am curious why not step down to the final meter drop so that you could have multiple flat levels? Also curious if you have any thoughts about using dirt packed tires as the retaining wall under the pond liner? Love your work and videos😁 Thank you
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler2 жыл бұрын
You can have flat levels, but it needs more building work. Tyres are too irregular a surface for the liner.
@LadyElsena2 жыл бұрын
@@organicpools-davidpaganbutler if I were to use a mortar to create a flat surface on the face of the tires would that solve the problems that arise from using tires? Thank you.

Hi Matthew, sorry I'm rubbish at keeping up with stuff. I am just shipping to the UK at the moment because shipping is very expensive and the supplied compressor is UK /Europe 220V.

Excuse me but surely the angle of a 1 in 3 slope is actually 30 deg - three 30s being 90 n all?
@tarbaris2 жыл бұрын
I made the same mistake as yours. Too steep a slope, gravel won't stay. i am thinking of using flag stones locking each other. 🤔

Is it a bad idea to use a simple lime plaster (pulverized limestone+water) on the concrete blocks?
@organicpools-davidpaganbutler2 жыл бұрын
I think it would come off the surface... but not seen it done.
