MGB & Historic Car Racing at Donington Park National Circuit Equipe Classic Racing with Commentary

I'm trying something a bit different with this race video and have added a commentary post race. I'd love to know what you think of it and whether it adds to the videos or not?
Coverage comes from the second race at the Equipe Classic Racing weekend at Donington Park on 12th July 2020. We did not have a qualifying session and I was drawn to start P22 out of 38 entrants.
I was pleased with the start I made but lost a few places in the opening laps as some of the faster drivers that were essentially out of position came through the field. I made a few places up to finish P15 overall.

The most wonderful aspect of your racing is watching the skill of having to be comfortable gauging the metres of sliding sideways whilst keeping millimetres away from the next cars paintwork. How you deal with pressure of that is remarkable

Many thanks for your message Gordon. One of the best things about the series is the standard of driving; you can go toe to toe with most of the drivers and not need to worry about coming together.

I'm very glad that the commentary has been well received, I make quite a few ums and errs in the first few laps. I will try to improve the audio too as there is a bit of an echo.

As usual, your driving skills are amazing and you are a very classy race driver. if I can add a little suggestion, you should add a lot more shots of your footwork, because it is awesome, but it's too bad we don't get to see more of it. ;) Keep the good job man!

Many thanks for your message Lorest, if I get the chance this weekend I'll add a quick video showing the footwork for one lap. I think later in the race when the field had spread I could have added some more footage of the pedals. I'll do that next time.

Finally back to racing! What a beautiful day and that looks like an absolute blast. The car sounds fantastic after all the work you have put in to refreshing it. I see your windscreen has been damaged again, you can watch your video to remember how to replace it again!

Yes, two chips in the screen on the first outing, there doesn't seem any benefit to the Triplex windscreen over the standard cheap one. I'll be able to re-shoot fitting the screen back into the car again, this was lost on the first video.

What sort of steering setup are you running? I assume that you do not have an electric assist? You seem to almost move the car effortlessly at some points in the video.

The car is running a fairly standard steering and damper set up. No electrical/power assist but it does have a quick rack fitted that reduces the turns from lock to lock, but can make the steering a bit heavy at very low speeds. Also the tyres are Dunlop cross ply and these do tend to slide nicely but give plenty of warning before they really let go. There are negative camber lowers wishbones on the front, leaver arm dampers front and rear. You will see a bit more about the suspension here kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWbNpIqprt5kkKc

Many thanks for your message geoff, I’ll certainly be adding the commentary to any more race videos. Just need to make a few tweaks to the audio to try and remove the echo I get. We are at brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend so a new race video should be coming before the end of next week.
