I think a better variation on the lasagna would be to leave out the pasta and make it more like a shepherd's/cottage pie
@JabbaThaChu4 жыл бұрын
I think I can get behind this. Would you do a filling similar to the pot pie he made earlier? Or something with a more gravy-like constancy?
@emorodo4 жыл бұрын
@@JabbaThaChu I guess both option could work. For me, I would not go with the potpie version because of the cream, I don't know it just don't feel shepherdsy piey to me. I would probably meke something with the gravy trying to thinking it so its not that watery at the end, maybe by reducing it a bit, adding flower, or you could even try the ricotta cheese mixure David make and mixing it with the gravy.
@kikicorleone35254 жыл бұрын
Wait, there are people who cook their lasagna noodles before putting them in the dish? I never did that before (and the recipes I use don't call for it either) and they always got soft anyways because they are being cooked in the sauce

We've been putting all of the leftovers layered in a baking dish for years now. We like it better than day of with everything separate on your plate. This time I mixed the turkey and gravy for the first layer, cranberry sauce, corn/broccoli/glazed carrots, sweet potatoes, loaded mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes, and the final layer stuffing. It's the most delicious thing and we look forward to it all year.

To go with the theme of using leftovers, the last 3-4 years we have been doing turkey pot pie, and instead of a thickened milk mixture, we use the turkey gravy. Fairly standard pot pie recipe: Pie crust in a pie plate with some fork holes poked in it In a separate pan saute onion, garlic, carrots, potatoes until tender Add peas and turkey, then mix in whatever gravy we have left, continuing to cook until it is all hot. Pour into prepared crust, and seal top with another crust Poke some more holes into top crust to release steam Bake and serve. Edit: And apparently That is a turkey meat pie, because (contrary to everything I have actually encountered,) pot pies are defined to not have a bottom crust... Every 'pot' pie I have gotten, whether homemade or store bought, has had a bottom crust, so I assumed that was the case. I just now found out that is wrong.
@OrWhatWeHave4 жыл бұрын
I think some Americans use 'pot pie' as shorthand for 'not sweet pie' but rest of the world/ other parts of the states follow this crust location nomenclature ;)
