The fact that it makes those who already love IndyCar get excited is great. But really this is so important for the very large number of folks who have no idea what indycar is. Comparing this ad to Nascar ads over the last 10 years, it feels way more focused on the drivers and making them the star and center of attention, which is what it should be. The racing accommodates that, but the drivers show why they are special. Far too often in Nascar ads do they focus way too much on the wrecks and not enough about the people that actually do the hard work, and I think that is what you want to focus on more when your doing an ad about racing. Well done, Fox.

I feel like Fox loves to go all in whenever they get a new thing, since they promoted the hell out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it feel like both the massive event that it is, they also made it seem like the USMNT were the favorites to win the entire tournament. Also you have to look at when Fox acquired the TV deal to air WWE Smackdown, they moved it from Tuesdays to Fridays and initially advertised Smackdown's arrival to live network TV like it was WrestleMania, although they stopped promoting Smackdown hard after the first couple months on Fox (mainly because for most of Fox's time airing Smackdown, WWE was in one of it's lowest periods in terms of its product and didn't improve until the scandal that forced Vince McMahon out of the company)

The NASCAR fans should not be too worried about Fox not making any ads to promote the upcoming season since both Amazon & TNT are likely going to promote the heck out of NASCAR (with Dale Jr's help & involvement) in the next few months. TNT in particular will go in big with promoting NASCAR since they are returning to the sport & will likely turn to nostalgia in their ads that will likely start airing during March Madness & continue during the NBA & NHL playoffs. As for Amazon, they will need to do something similar to this though with Kyle Larson.

I'm 65, which may explain my comments. I grew up in a racing family, and raced myself. We raced dirt track cars...stock cars, modifieds, supermodifieds, and late models. It was a good commercial by Fox for IndyCar, and its a plus for the series to be on a broadcast network again. For me, the only IndyCar race I watch is the Indianapolis 500, which I've watched (or listened to) since I was a little kid. I lost interest when American dirt oval drivers lost their opportunities in Indy car racing That's where the legendary winners and competitors of Indy 500 came from, like A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Johnny Rutherford, Gary Bettenhausen, or 1975 Indy "Rookie" of the Year Bill Peuterbaugh (one of my Dad's old racing competitor and friends). NASCAR lost me around 15 years ago, along with so many other of the grassroots fans who supported and help to build the sport. Good luck to IndyCar.

I think fox can really help indycar out a lot

I hope so!

I like how even Fox gets in on the lack of respect to Scott Dixon. If we are being honest, he's the Indycar equivalent to Tom Brady. That said, I agree with pushing Josef Newgarden as one of the faces of Indycar.

it sucks that Josef is a dirty rotten cheater though. I get he is the reigning indy500, but he is undeniably a dumbass for being a cheater and his actions and words after. Not a good look or advocate for the series

@@sams-pg7hj He's a blonde haired blue eyed Aryan dude. Really surprised that into today's society they're promoting that... I'm all for Josef being the face.

I expect Dixon will be the third ad.

@@sams-pg7hj Cheating in racing, oh the humanity, Ive never heard of such a thing, oh how will he get over the hit to his reputation. No one cares about cheating in racing except right after someone gets caught, give it enough time and people will even praise them for it.

@@chrish931 I think most people are unhappy with how Josef handled it after and what he said or didn't say, and the lack of a real investigation and lack of conclusion to it. Penske owning the series and the same team doesnt help the public image on this major scandal. Plus the lack of severe penalties was not good. The series should expect long suspensions for the crew involved and multiple race bans for drivers, at a minimum

My thing is do like they do during the Month of May at IMS and that is when they have a race at a venue and YES I know that it is just for a weekend but they should do it to where the drivers can have meet and greets with fans where the races are at so it can promote the product better!

Hopefully Fox gets it. NASCAR is on the outs. Make open wheel racing great again...
@PaperBanjo64Күн бұрын
Hell yeah! NASCAR only cares about appealing to casual viewers which is never a good strategy, running off the real fans who supported it for years.

Makes me realize how bad NBC was fumbling the bag for so long. I didn't think their coverage per se was awful, but their marketing outside of the 500 was atrocious.
@runrafarunthebestintheworldКүн бұрын
Yep it seemed like they cared more about getting tv rights to the NBA games than keeping IndyCar an also bringing back Saturday Night's Main event.
@PaperBanjo64Күн бұрын
@runrafarunthebestintheworld NBC didn't care about motorsport or they wouldn't have constantly dumped races to cable if it ran a little too long, FOX has went downhill in presentation but at least they stick with it until it's over.
