This is a real injustice and I'm a bit disappointed that Cadillac didn't support him more.

All racing today is a weak watered down theater not sport. Also crooked officials making it so obviously biased. I rather watch racing on KZbin from 30 years ago.

Get well soon Brother. It's a New Season... well about a couple months after this winter crap... Practice Doughnuts in the Snow, meanwhile..., DRIFTERS. Penski does it for sure with the grand children in the Car. MY DAD DID, and thus we all know how.... Steer into the slide, gentle on the Power curve... now spin. Thats it... Indy, lets go racing.

My first Indy 500 was 1964, the Year Eddie Sacks and Dave McDonald gave their lives in a body style that became standard, but needing side pod protection. That was a good thing. Push to Pass, I'm Lukewarm about, and time outs, Innings, and to some degree play-offs in Racing, are silly. The Red Bull Styling has some appeal but only on a curious sort of way. Ask Hailie Deagan what she thinks. That woman is the near time future of this, the most beautiful form of Racing, (but only because Unlimited Hydroplanes are all but gone). Best of Luck Hailie Deagan, Your Car is Beautiful. We'll see you in May. If not this, May I hope, Woo Hoo Indy 2025. Last but not least David Land is thee best in Indy wisdom

I was spoiled in the 70's, you could actually go right down the middle of the F1 garage at the Glen. Emerson Fittipaldi might tap you on the shoulder to get to his team, you were within 10 feet of the cars. You could throw a sleeping bag in the truck and spend less than $100 for the weekend, team shirts were only $20. You could walk all over the course with excellent views. I still watch F1 as a TV show, but find that it's upscale persona doesn't compare to the past. Maybe the fans are just a little too easy. A few events met with a little sales resistence from fans might convince the marketing to ratchet down the greed.

I agree bringing back the screaming V8 sound would be a bigger splash than a futuristic car. When you're at a race they flash by so quickly you don't get a great look. But the sound leaves an impression. The car just needs to be simple and sleek but the sound would be a better area to improve.

IndyCar (Penske, Roger) is the problem. Recall that Penske became a billionaire thanks to the image he forged at Indy. But now, nearing 90 years old, he is unwilling to put even 5% of that wealth into the series. It's clear he does not either believe in the series future or just too greedy to fund it's future. After all, he won't be around to see that success, so why bother. Time to think of American open wheel as a series without Penske's rule and dominance and without the 500, if necessary. It seems that both have become a ball and chain on a sport that demonstrably has massive appeal (ref F1 as the market appeal gauge).

I've watched GT5 laps with the X2010, it would kill somebody running THAT fast, just a lighter version of the current car with tweaks to make it move aero efficient and less prone to dirty air...minimum of 750 HP before hybrid and push to pass on short ovals and road courses...definitely no to F2 at least not the aero kit.

Anyone see the 2026 F1 Car "Concept" yet?
@drumnbasssakuga93529 күн бұрын
Yeah you really don't get it. The new Indycar needs to be a significant departure from the chassis we've been using for 12 FUCKING YEARS and be something that's going to go viral and attract new fans. The owner meant something with the same aesthetic as the X1, obviously spec and with its own engineered limitations. I swear to God, do American racing fans ever want ANYTHING new and innovative? Do they ever stop asking to go back to the same shit as the "heyday" of the series and instead aspire to watch something new and amazing?

I want V8s or V10s as much as anyone, but it’s just not going to happen with OEM participation. They’re all up against what may very well be an ICE ban in the EU by 2035, which isn’t as far off as it sounds. EVs are basically being mandated, and a lot of companies still can’t make one profitably. A perfect example of the situation they’re all now in is Volkswagen, which is bleeding cash and bound to strict Union contracts, at a time where it desperately needs to come up with products that can spark sales. Every other marque is afraid of being in that boat, which is why spending money on non-market relevant engines for a racing series is the least of their priorities. The only way that ever happens is if we just bite the bullet and turn the engines over to someone like Judd or Cosworth. But then that’s giving up on all of the marketing dollars that comes with OEM participation, and Indycar is all but assured a slow death.

Agree with most everything you say David. I think INDYCAR needs a killer video game, doing what they need to do to keep Honda (hybrid), and a new chassis.
@hughjazz28909 күн бұрын
Update the base chassis for safety. Change the engine rules. High rev V8 with Hybrid as push to pass (Not a fan of the hybrid but realize that’s what’s needed for manufactures) And allow the teams to develop the rest of the cars body work and suspension within a pre determined cost cap. And if they really want to make it more relevant, use a production based engine as the base.

What happened to having a full redesign on the hybrid system and proper imsa style high voltage battery system . If the car is the same it means the same pointless money wasting hybrid that was supposed to be stop gap .

The next car needs to take being the fastest closed course car on earth seriously again. If it can't challenge the track records on ovals, they've failed. They need to be pushing the boundaries on something to matter again.

Indycar should tell Dallara… “build us an Lmdh prototype, remove the roof, the fenders, the fin, all the unnecessary weight & parts until an open-wheel car starts to appear.” That’s the move!!

Universal tech of Indycar makes the series boring. Set a formula and let teams design their own platforms within the formula. Technological innovation os the spice of racing.
