Everybody assumes this is an Indycar thing. Both of these teams have IMSA GTP teams, those cars carry substantially more trade secrets than the damper package on an Indycar. I'm not saying this to disparage Indycar (I'm a diehard, I don't actually enjoy sports cars), but that would seem more logical to me, that it's IMSA GTP secrets that have been stolen.

I'm surprised Andretti didn't win that war against the current F1 team owners. Since Liberty Media is a US based company that pretty much owns F1 Group and has to answer to US Congress. I guess US officials couldn't find anything too hard hitting enough for F1 Group to change their minds. If I was Andretti, I'd go to NATO and UN now. Cause Liberty Media, F1 Group and team owners have to be in violation of something. I mean, why is F1 Group pushing so hard into the Middle East??? Are they in collusion with all the bad groups???

The Hoosier Dome wasn’t paid off until 2020. It opened in 1984 and was demolished in December 2008. It took an additional 13 years after the building was gone to be paid in full. Maybe the FBI can investigate that theft of taxpayer funds while they’re in town.

That’s not a theft of funds. It’s standard practice - you have to carryover and pay any remaining mortgage balance, regardless of the current status of the structure. The structure would have never been built if not for those unpaid funds being supplied upfront. But they have to be paid back. Just simple banking business.

David. The IP did not have to do with the car at all, it very well might have been IP relating to the support equipment, such as timing stand electronics, software or algorithms to help with strategy, or tools, test hardware or software, or shop equipment. Anything that the team develops that is not public knowledge is considered IP.

Engineers take secrets with them from team to team all the time. That’s not illegal, in fact it’s why engineers are often hired from other teams. @@cpcxgsrIndyCar alongside Super Formula in Japan are what i will describe as a "Semi-spec" series. They may have the same chassis but there are variations or leeway in the engine and suspensions department. A true "spec" series is your F2, F3, F4, FR, etc where all the components are the exact same and the only differentiation is the team's setup. Reminds me almost verbatim of how the Jeff Luhnow situation played out upon his transition from the Cards to the Astros. This was precisely when Mejdal and Luhnow championed STOUT metrics and the Astros got VERY good especially their farm system. The FBI got involved because of a tech breach into their proprietary system. Motorsport is full of proprietary data and algorithms. If there’s any hint of significant monetary advantages, there’s an understandable fiduciary obligation to intervene. And from what I remember, mr Luhnow just gave his password to the wrong party. It wasn’t a particularly impressive hack. Having followed spygate very closely then this Cards/astros scandal uniquely as well, I’ve always been shocked this doesn’t happen in motorsports a lot more. My own speculation but there’s almost no doubt it’s an improper data access situation. I assume it touches multiple parties as well to be so sprawling. Maybe tyre manufacturing etc. regardless, def a weird one. Thanks for covering will keep an eye on it

This definitely isn’t a good look for RLL, but it’s still likely this is an isolated incident confined to one lone engineer. Assuming IP was stolen from AG, if RLL can show they were unaware of their employee’s actions they may be in the clear. I don’t fault AG for contacting the FBI. If you suspect you may have been the victim of white collar crime, you contact the FBI.

Michael started the season ranting about Penske cheating and finished by telling the teacher on RLL. He's kinda like Mario without the credibility. Whats next? Is he going to blame the popoff valve for a poor qualifying session? I'm still waiting for the disqualification/suspension's from his team rigging Hertas hybrid system to work in pit lane!

This is my opinion. There is no such thing as an intellectual theft unless you've got a patent. My uncle, in the 1950s, found that out. People are hired for their knowledge. I dont believe in conspiracies, but more is going on here.

Disagree about not solving problems part. This is similar to the Houston Astros and St Louis Cardinals a few years back. From Wikipedia: "Chris Correa, former St. Louis Cardinals scouting director, was permanently banned on January 30, 2017, for his role in hacking the Houston Astros' scouting database to provide the Cardinals with a competitive edge in scouting. The Cardinals were also ordered to pay the Astros $2 million in restitution, and forfeited their top two picks in the 2017 draft to the Astros. Correa was later sentenced to 46 months in prison for unauthorized access of a protected computer, thus becoming the first person to be incarcerated for activities that resulted in a ban from the game."

Personal opinion if they were using this information and cheating it should have some points penalty if it can be proved. As RLL barely made leader circle this year and should not get that monetary benefit if they cheated.
