The PSP had a LOT of Trails games, the first 3 Sky games and this one as well! Huge series and funny enough I am now playing Trails in the Sky SC (the second game) and is AMAZING! (a little bit more than half way through) Edit: I also forgot that Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure also had a PSP version, holy moly the PSP was a Trails series machine!

I've been playing through it on my PS5 and having a blast. One of the most fun games I've played in recent memory. I haven't tried any of the other Trails games, as they seem pretty daunting to get into at this point since there's so many of them and it seems like you need to play a bunch of them to get the full story. So this being a standalone really works out for me. Also, as I've gotten older, I've found that I enjoy action rpgs more than traditional turn based ones. This is definitely one I'd recommend to anyone who's a fan of the genre.

Thanks for the review. I'm watching this as I just got my preorder of the game. I've been on such a Trails kick lately after finishing Cold Steel IV and loving every minute so far of Reverie. I love the Ys games as well so this is going really perfect for me.

I'm pretty sure that Nayuta: Boundless Trails doesn't actually take place in the same world/dimension as the Trails games, but it's more like there aren interdimensional analogs of Towa in other Falcom games (specifically, Tokyo Xanadu, which is something of a spiritual sequel to NBT).

Played this back on PSP emulator. Such a fun and vibrant game, closely resembling Ys. I am definitely gonna pick this up when I finish Trails into Reverie.

I've heard you say it before that Nayuta is Towa's grandfather, but there's no official source that Nayuta is related to Towa. I think it's just a theory based on some congruent info, but there's also conflicting info. The name Herschel could be like Smith. There's even a bit of info in CS4/Reverie [could be a spoiler to say what] that would make it rather difficult for them to be related (but who knows, there are supernatural happenings in fantasy games). Falcom hasn't confirmed that Nayuta is even the same world or universe as the Zemuria saga.

This is gonna be ny first trails game mainly because it reminds me of Ys VIII and that it's standalone from all the trails games. I'm also loving the graphics, very stylistic and nostalgic but not looking too dated/outdated. I'm not really big on pixel and pixellated chibis that Trails games have so I'm really glad Nayuta have 3D graphics. I've been keeping an eye on this one for awhile since it was announced but couldn't pre-order it considering my budget as I've already pre-ordered a lot of game franchises I'm following and this happened to be in the same if not near the release date of those. I was going to wait for a sale (even a 5%-10% sale would've been fine) after release but I couldn't help myself and ordered my copy off Amazon US on release day - mainly fearing the next batches/copies won't have the mini artbook anymore if I wait long after release date. Still waiting on my copy patiently I really hope it comes with the artbook inside! 🙏🙏🙏

I appreciate that this is a standalone game, because I think my biggest hurdle with the trails series is the sheer breadth of it and the fact that most of the games are connected

Tell me about it... I'm starting Cold Steel 1 after playing the Lieberl trilogy and the Crossbell duology and I'm already feeling exhausted, even though they all are great games.

Not most all of them are to a bigger or smaller extend. This one is a spin off title, that's why it doesn't really follow the time line of the other Trails games.

@@julioagua I started my grind couple weeks ago. If I take something serious I can grind it fast even with limited time. But yeah I get it and from what I can tell not all games are equally long and Google kinda lies when it comes to how long it takes to complete them. I needed 67 hours to complete the first Sky game and Google says is a 50 hours game 65-70 if you go full 100% but I wasn't doing 100% and now playing SC I can say that the second Sky game is probably double the length of the first game YIKES.

There is no clear evidence to suggest Towa is Nayuta's granddaughter. To me, it sounds less credible than the popular theory of Nayuta being McBurn and Creha being the Grandmaster.

trash from the past.. this is borderline unplayable. combat is garbo,characters,story same. ps 1 controls and graphics doesnt help much. 90% dialogue isnt voiced etc etc.
