I always enjoy your fishing videos Davie, as well as the fly tying ones. No ego, no preaching what methods we "should" and "shouldn't" do, just a good-humoured and relaxing time out on the river, as it should be 😊🍻

loved this Davie, you took some lovely fish, missed plenty, and what a lovely brownie, my favorite species to catch and paint. so thank you so much for these videos Davie, I am there in spirit right beside you as I am highly disabled and regrettably unable to leave my home safely so I really appreciate the efforts you make these. I still tie flies each week along with you even though I cannot go fly fishing as it gives me something to do and also aim at each week. you take your health and legs for granted, unfortunately for me, mine have given way. I would love to be there with you. Cheers, your friend Vinny

Hi Vinny, I'm sorry to hear that you can't go fishing anymore and that you enjoy the videos..I turn 60 this month so I really do feel privileged that I'm still fit and healthy enough to fish and share my day with you and others that may not get the chance anymore, I will keep doing them as long as I can so thank you for the kind words.. All the very best Davie

Great video Davie. Would you treat the wings before putting them in your collection. All the best 👍
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Murray, What I normally do is give them a light wash in warm water with a tiny bit of washing up liquid if I feel they need it. If they are nice and dry and clean I'll put them in a packet separately from my other feathers for a wee while and keep an eye on them, If there's anything on them you'll see the waste but it's rare that I find anything to worry about..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie

Another great video davie!! I seen a fly on google but cant find a video on how to tie it, can you reccomend any books, the fly is a Guideline Blue Posh Sunray Thanks Jay
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, I do have a couple of videos on the Sunray but not the blue version, I don't know of a book with these flies though I'll keep it in mind for a video in the future as it's a nice pattern.. All. the very best Davie

Your videos are the next best thing to going fishing. How do you fasten your tapered leader to your fly line Davie ? I've tried many different ways but can't really settle on one.
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Geoff, Like yourself I'ver tried many ways to attach a tapered leader to a line over the years. I just use a blood knot tyed to the welded loop until it breaks then I'll attach a Roman Moser braided loop to replace it..I'm glad you enjoy the videos.. All the very best Davie

@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi @ross1458, I know you don't get given a pair of Jay wings every day so it's always great to know someone that shoots....I don't think they eat the Jay but I could be wrong.. All the very best Davie

What is the rod do you use? I like how it cast. I'm looking at replacing my old Redington 2 section with something new mid range. I've been looking at 9ft St Croix Imperial USA, a Douglas DXF and the Vision Onky or Rivermaniac, to go with my Phoenix Classic silk line.
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Alfred, I use a Cadence 9ft 4# which has a lovely action and suits the style of rod I prefer for fishing my local waters especially for dry fly though I am happy to fish wets and nymphs with it as well.. I have attached a link to it for you to see. www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product-category/fly-fishing/single-handed-rods/sm-9ft-fly-rods/ All the very best Davie
