Lovely seeing loch Doon again! I caught my first char there when I was about 10. Nice to see you are still enjoying the cadence rod! I have been using the same 4wt for my fishing in Austria and so far I'm blown away by it. It handles big fish just as well as small ones 😉.

Thanks for the day, Davie... You mentioned you weren't casting far. Would you say how far that is, and what distance if your rod were a #5 or #6 and the water wanted more distance? Mike
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I was fishing around 15 yards plus which I feel is far enough to fish the water I was fishing but it was in my view far enough that the rod wasn't under any pressure as it's a rod suited for fishing the river rather than a loch..I would say a 9 1/2 foot or 10 foot 5# or even a 6# would have been better and would easily cast 20 yards plus and strong enough to set the hook at distance..Great question.. All the very best Davie

I would think there is a few large Brown Trout lurking it the the Loch too. I would likely suspect some big enough to swallow smaller ones, along with a few Big Pike too. Does the River Doon flow into and out of the Loch? Could Salmon be in the Loch by any chance?🐳🙂

Hi Davy , what type of line are you using ? Floating ? Sinking ? Going to fish here soon and looking for some tips , thank you

Beautiful casting rod Davie....what make and model is that, please? I am looking for a new moderate action rod after breaking my 30 yr old Sage RPL 5Wt.
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I used the 9ft 4# which is a great rod though the 5# would have been a great choice as well so I have attached a link to the Cadence rods that I use for you to have a look at. www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product-category/fly-fishing/single-handed-rods/ All the very best Davie

If you want to catch big trout. Try from dusk to dawn. The big trouts are nocturnal.
