Thread, Black or Dark Green
Tail, Sooty Olive Cock Hackle Fibres
Rib, Small Copper Wire
Body, Natural Brown Peasant Tail Dyed Chartreuse and Uni-Mylar Orange
Thorax Cover, Natural Brown Peasant Tail Dyed Chartreuse
Thorax, Peacock Black Glister or Lite-Brite Dubbing
Breathers, Glo-Brite Multi-Yarn No.16 White or Antron

Really nice midge like pattern. I’ve recently begun adding breathers on the bulk of my midge patterns and I have caught noticeably more fish. I personally think that the increased catch rate is due to the breathers being quite bright, acting like a hotspot or trigger point in a sense. Another great pattern to add to the box. She who must be obeyed has had to allow me to purchase another ten or more fly boxes since I began watching your instructional videos, and I have definitely spent much more time at the tying bench over the past year. This is a nice pattern!!! I love Chironomids, but here we tend to use a heavy wire rib and a bead head. This is mostly because we fish them quite deep, around 20 feet. The wire and bead get it down faster and the rib gives a better image to the trout we are attracting. I like using this style under a strike indicator in less water, I really enjoy it! The two key points that make Muskin’s effective are that collar be it subtle or a fluorescent hot spot. Combined with the split breathers. Just like the natural. Have also been effective on the rivers above a weighted nymph for both brownies and grayling right down to a #18.

Davie your pheasant tail fibres always seem even when ever I use pt some are broken and others are fine tips of the fibres

Hi Anthony, I normally buy 30 to 50 tails at a time so that I can select the best ones, I am also lucky that I have a couple of friends that shoot over the winter months and will give me the good tails so if you know anyone that does this you will also get some nice feathers.. Hi dongil123, I have tyed them with the peacock herl which is as good or even better than the glister dubbing though I would have both patterns. I also tye one with the natural coloured pheasant tail with the same glister dubbing which also works really well.. I'm glad you liked it.. All the very best Davie..

Hi Stewart, I use Veniard dyes which I found the easiest to use and have the best colours for the flies we tye, you can buy other dyes but the colours can be very different..I worked at Springwater Fishery just outside Ayr... All the very best Davie

Another brilliant and informative video, thanks for sharing. I don't have pheasant tail dyed olive, but I do have Condor Substitute in olive. Would this work for the body? I have an Indian hen neck that is olive, would that work for the tail? Would a natural or died black pheasant tail work for the thorax cover? How do I participate in your monthly draw? I apologise for so many question, but I only got into fly fishing about seven years ago, and fly tying about five tears ago. Thanks.

Hi Alister, Condor sub would be great as it's ideal for bodies both on this style of fly and even dry flies which I have used many a time.. The hen neck and the dyed black pheasant tail would be great as well so certainly use what you have as this is a great style to tye your buzzers like this in any colour.. I have a PayPal donation button here on KZbin so when someone donates over the month I send them a number which gives them a chance to get the flies I film and tye throughout that month I also give a box of flies away...Money raised goes toward the channel and any future projects.. Hi Trevor, This is the early pattern which is darker and it comes off in and around mid March through to the beginning of April though as I said in the video it's a good pattern tyed in different sizes throughout the season.. All the very best Davie..
