DaVinci Resolve 19's Beta 2 Update!

I'm actually quite happy they have the "social media" overlays. I think those will come in handy for making shorts, or anything really, that is recorded in landscape vs portrait. It will allow you to see everything recorded. Will also be handy for making short form videos based on your long form things that have popups. Would be nice if when you have the social media overlay on, the safe area guides would scale. Now I have overlays I have made for this, but they don't really scale right all the time. The DIY overlay isn't as useful since they are an actually thing on the track. Personal preference of course, but I'm glad they are adding it.

It's a small thing but considering I have things going on making editing harder, having these little tools make life easier. I'm fine making "work arounds" for things, but always nice having things embedded.

Thanks for the info Pat! When opening my Beta 19 the other day, the program itself showed a Update pop-up that announced there was a version B2, and asked if I wanted to download it, which I did. I installed it this morning and was also glad to see they fixed a crash with Fusion particle emitters (pEmitter) when using bitmaps. Will have to test their fix today sometime. Thanks again with the link to the Forum post from Pete Chamberlain, as I couldn't find the details for the version within the program itself. UPDATE: Just tested, and they did in fact fix the program crashing issue.😀

Individual clips apparently use source audio not timeline audio. I wish there was a way to fix that.

So I downloaded the Beta 2 (I have the full studio license) and installed it. The Music Remixer isn't available. I see it grayed-out in the “Visible Track FX” submenu.

Thank you! I wish Blackmagic would FINALLY work on the Text editor. Creating texts, buzzwords, long texts in Davinci Resolve is such a pain compared to premiere for example. You can't just drag a textbox by clicking in the viewer and type your text in. Davinci also doesn't automatically do returns for longer text. You can't just drag guidlines in the viewer just like in premiere or photoshop which makes everything easier. I wonder how we could reach the developers from Blackmagic to work on those basic but very important features instead of giving us more und more AI tools which can let Davinci crash just like premiere does....

@@PatrickStirling when i try to download 19 beta,,, i had it before but i had some problems with my computer so i had to reset it,,, now that i am trying to get back it is asking me for a username to download 19 it only give me a choice to get 18.6 sorry to bug you about this but i get out of work to late to call them i dont know if the call Center is opne on the weekend... hope this all make since

i own studio and currently have 18.6, i dont see an option to update to 19 other than 19.2 beta, is this the only way to get 19?

Installed the Beta 2 update (skipped Beta 1) and I noticed that my Speed Editor just shuts off after a few minutes and I need to restart Resolve for it to wake up. The Device Control panel in Resolve doesn't work unless I restart it. And it just updated to firmware 1.5. Anyone else using it had that issue?

The only 2 things I want from Davinci is proper PSD support (like Premiere has) and ProRes exports on Windows.

I am a week into using Resolve so pardon me if this is silly question. I tried using beta version but I couldn’t see my fx3 clips they showed up in bin but could do nothing with them since they are 10 but 4/2/2 I’ve been told. So purchased 18.6 studio version. So my question is since I now have studio version if I download beta will I be able to see my fx3 clips?

not a giant decision all things considered but going with 18.6 is fine and then after a bit you'll know enough to know if you think jumping to v19 will be beneficial to you

This is causing endless problems for me. When I close a project I can’t reopen it. I just get the spinning wheel. So I have to export and import as a new project every time. This seems to be an issue for many people. I wouldn’t recommend the update.

Yes, the magic zoom kept defaulting to quality setting 2 after saving with setting 8 and reloading your project. Most annoying to find after rendering. I found a way round it by setting max quality (10) and it seemed to stick. They really need to fix the AI audio though. I find that when you enable it, and have nothing at all selected in the remixer buttons, it still seems to be doing something and muting parts of the audio. This makes it useless IMO as it's clearly affecting the quality of your original tracks.

Probably not for at least a month or so. Depends how many bugs are reported and how long it takes to fix. 18 took about this long to get out of beta

⁠@@PatrickStirlingCreate subtitles doesn’t work at all, have to force quit app. The timelines aren’t as responsive, I accept that with beta. Using the speed editor, editing quickly, I hear audio from a different part of the timeline when I play back (really annoying), until it sort of “catches up”, it seems to come from the left channel. I really need subtitles, so I may need to go back to 18.
