Wow! Fusion not following the project's color management was the one thing keeping me from diving deeper into color management. I'm a total color nOOb and was watching a bunch of videos on the topic of color management and was starting to get into it, then I found out Fusion ignored the color management and at that point, I never went any further with it. That is super cool!

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, Color Managed did not work for me. Now the Edit, Color, Deliver, and even Fusion pages match, but when I deliver and generate the H.265 MP4, I get a different, more dull color. Reverting to the old mode. The Fusion page is off, but at least the MP4 matches the other tabs.

11:13 that's probably one of the best features they've added in Fusion 19, although before I was using the letterbox node to do the same thing, now it would require no extra nodes.

All this time looking at my new tablet, I had no idea they dropped this. Scale to source looks great! Hard to explain, but does it crop stuff? Previously, I'd have stuff that got planar transformed to the point you could see where the borders cut off. If this lets you use huge images with no cropping or issues, that makes things much easier.

One more excellent video, mate! I have some question about the 1st feature: 1. Why not just keep all the input video medias as the BMD WG color space? 2. I have an HDR 1400 monitor and Windows 11, DR v19 supports HDR monitoring the preview window in the Edit page now!!! But the fusion page looks like still not support HDR in windows. Is my setup error? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the video. I'm excited about DR19 as well and was overjoyed, when I learned about Fusion respecting Color management now, but I can't seem to get it to work. What Fusion is displaying in the GUI does not match what it displays via SDI out, nor does it match the image outputted via "video clean feed" on my second monitor and all those images still do not match how stuff looks in the Edit page. It's as wildly different as it always was, much more different that what could be explained by the different calibration of the monitors.

I saw great potential in using Referenced Comps for lower thirds in a project to keep them consistent throughout, but more importantly, allow quick global change such as font or colour change, should the client request it when everything else was complete. The problem, of course, with this idea is that the text content of a title cannot be made unique for each instance of the same referenced comp, therefore making them unsuitable for this. Is there any way around this where referenced comps can some how be instructed to ignore certain parameters, such as text content?

Hello Case:Y(or X). Have you found a way to use the same identical node in many different Fusion compositions so that when you change one node, it changes in all compositions that use that node. In short, an exact copy, like a proxy ? Many times there is a situation where you make a nice ball out of Circle, which you modify to your liking, and you want to use the same ball in many different Fusion compositions.

I recently observed in another video that Dissolve 19 has introduced a new slow motion feature that enables shooting at 8K 24 fps or 8K 30 fps without compromising quality. YESS COLOR MANAGEMENT IN FUSION!! FINALLY! How do you feel about Fusion's speed? I really tried using it, but it soo slow for higher res footage, and stopped using it. Something that really annoyed mi is the playback of a clip that often stays choppy after it's buffered. How's your experience with this so far?

That VDB thing is supercool. You can generate stuff in embergen and bring it over. Embergen does complex simulations in realtime.

Hey Casey. How are you? I'm using Davinci 18.6, and have loaded a clip in the media pool. However, for some reason, it's NOT loading or permitting me to put it on the Timeline. It's a PNG file, so should work like the others I've already loaded in the timeline. Can you give some advice? I'd also like to thank you for doing videos on Davinci Resolve as I was formerly using Openshot, and this Davinci Resolve is head and shoulders better.

Can you check depth mask on a portrait layout project please? It's been driving me nuts on 18.6. Just turning on preview on the color tab will show if it's working on not, on 18.6 it does show anything masked if the project is portrait.

I want to run something past you. I want to create a reusable asset- lets say a custom lower third. It will have a text element and a graphical element that will both be replaceable in the final project. I know how to do all of that in fusion. But I want it to have an embedded sound (that won't change). The sound effect will be synchronized with the motion graphic so I don't have to mess with it. I'm pretty sure I can do this in AE, How do I create that as a canned reusable asset (including the sound) that I can use in my projects AND share with others in Davinci?

Feels like magic masks break in longer projects (or just behave somewhat unpredictably), especially when such clips are edited after the mask is made, happened always with the color page magic masks and yesterday in a 30 minute short film something went weird with a Fusion magic mask even though no changes were made to it right before it went weird. Have they made any improvements to this in DR19? Would also be amazing if you could manually roto to correct areas at the frame level of the magic mask that have issues. So would save a ton of time and be less hit or miss. I know you can subtract and refine the mask but to have frame by frame control after their rough draft so to speak would be so clutch

4:35 - This would've been useful for me the last few days. I was stacking a lot of polygon nodes. To not have it full of nodes, I only did the important bits in the scenes. With this, I could 've done everything. What I do find strange, coming from a background and photoshop and such, is how they layer things from top to bottom. Unlike most software, where it is from bottom to top. I noticed this the other day, with the multi-merge. I didn't at first understand why my layer wasn't showing, while it was the top most layer. After a while I figured out it had to go to the bottom of the list. Would like them to change that, or have the option to change it. And also, They should fix the descrepency in shortcuts between Fusion and the other tabs, because it gets confusing. For example, ctrl+mousewheel zooms the timeline in Fusion, but not in the Edit tab. There, alt+mousewheel zooms the timeline, while this it scrolling the timeline in Fusion. And with the left/right arrow, you can go frame by frame in the Edit tab, but not in the Fusion tab. And because I have AZERTY, even the default shortcuts for going a frame back/forward in Fusion, doesn't work properly. Davinci Resolve is a great program, but it sometimes baffles me how they can drop the ball on things that should be standard.

Already found a major bug in Fusion. DR19 crashes to desktop when you change a pEmitter node's style from blob (or any other type) to bitmap... quite disappointing 🤔

I have an issue with color mgmt. When I insert photographs I processed in photo software into my DaVinci time line, the colors change and my photos look dark and grungy. Is there a way to have my inserted photos keep the processed color from my other apps? Thanks for all you do Casey!

Make sure to tag your photos correctly in the media pool. Probably SRGB or Rec709
