Davinci Resolve Looping Animation - Loop anything in Resolve

Davinci Resolve makes it simple to loop animation with its built-in tools. The Set Loop and Repeating Animation options in the Spline Editor make animation loops in Resolve fast work. In this example, the beginning shows a few examples of looping animation. Then the tutorial shows how to animate a bouncing basketball in Resolve, then set the loop in out points to create an animation loop. I also dig under the hood of Resolve an explain how Resolve publishes a modifier that can be used for other things in your motion graphics.

I'm trying to work on a background for my stream overlay, is there a way I can loop a partical effect so It doesn't just cut and restart?

Particles are a little tough because physics are involved. There would be two options. You could end all of the particle animation by the end of the clip and then that would allow a more natural transition. 2nd- you could try blending. In all the videos it talks about 'image sequence', are these not a normal image, do you have to create this in another program or is 'image sequence' just a name that you give to a series of photos. I speak Dutch and translations are sometimes very unclear

Thank you. The easiest way to create long videos is by using the edit page. Everything in the timeline view will contribute to the final output render. For long projects with a lot of assets, you will likely go beyond your computer’s memory storage. Resolve will use hard drive space to hold all your files. Make sure your settings are pointed to a fast hard drive with plenty of free space. Go to preferences > Media Storage. The shortcut to preferences is CTRL + , Hold down the control key and press the comma key.

Just left-click on the clip on the right edge in the timeline(Edit Page) and drag it out as long as you need it.

If an animation sequence consists of several elements each moving in sequence - such that the total animation is found on several levels of the Keyframe editor - is it possible to loop that? e.g. A moves then stops, B moves then stops, C moves then stops, D moves then stops. Is is possible to loop that? If I use the above method to loop object A, its movement will clash with the movement of the other objects. I need object A to wait for the other objects to move. So the method you described does not seem to work for looping of multiple objects.

Yeah, Resolve will handle that very easily. What you need to do is create all the moving elements in one Fusion clip. Animate, each element, then go into the keyframe editor (click keyframes button in upper right) and arrange the start-end points of A B C etc. ***The trick is to add a new keyframe with no movement in the sequence for each element- you can copy-paste in the keyframe editor. This will eliminate overlap.*** Once you have the sequence order the way you want it, use the this video tutorial to create the loops as shown in the Spline Editor. Once you’re happy, lengthen the new Fusion clip as long as you want it back in the Edit Page.
