Think of Russian in Ukraine like English in Ireland. Both were forced on the people by outside powers-Russian in Ukraine and English in Ireland. Despite this, the Irish didn’t become British, and Ukrainians didn’t become Russians. Even though many Ukrainians speak Russian, they have their own identity, just like the Irish people speaking English. Today, Britain wouldn’t invade Ireland to "protect" English speakers. But Russia uses language as an excuse to invade Ukraine. The real reasons for Russia’s invasion are: Russia doesn’t want a successful, democratic Ukraine as a neighbor, fearing it could inspire their own people to demand the same. Russia needs warm water ports and fertile land, which Ukraine has, because much of Russia’s land is not useful. Russia wants more Slavic people, as they fear becoming a minority with the growing Central Asian Muslim population. Ukraine has valuable natural gas resources, which threaten Russia’s energy dominance. Russia’s claims of "oppression" of Russian speakers in Ukraine are just an excuse, as Ukraine wants to use its own language for official matters, like other countries do.

I am from Kharkiv. ALL(or 90%+) people spoke Russian in this city, before 2014. And after 2022 more people forced themselves to speak Ukraine) In universities and schools, all sales managers. All spoke Russian, and don't made a problem from it. In 2010 year, they made only the Ukrainian language available in cinemas. In 2006 or so, they changed the school program. Before, I had Russian language and Russian literature. 4 lessons a week. Then, only 1 lesson of foreign literature) All my family speaks this language. All, in my life, I can say) And no problems. Problems are not in the language. And I can speak freely Ukrainian. But for me, Russian is simply a language. Not an enemy. I can speak any language anywhere. If people around me are ok with it. If people want, they change language. Now all of them. But before 2022 no one think about it) And if all the people in Ukraine speak only Ukrainian in 2022, do you really believe that this shit don't started in this case?)

В Полтаве вообще спокойно. Медийно можно чесать что угодно но в этих городах живут мои близкие родственники. Я живу в Киеве, там где один из маршрутов ракет, там где их сбивают. Могу сравнивать.

я виїхала з Харкова, з України одразу після удару по міській адміністрації. декілька разів поверталася, але надовго не могла залишитися. тепер не бачила Харків вже рік. так сумую за ним, так серце болить. моє життя залишилося в минулому, там, в моєму районі, моїй квартирі. дякую, що показуєте все так, як воно є насправді. що говорите, хто випускає ці ракети, хто винний у руйнуваннях Батьківщини, люди родом з якої країни нищать все на своєму шляху - міста, історичні пам'ятки, людей та навіть тварин. бо часто у відео іноземців не чую жодної згадки про росію, і це ріже по серцю найбільше: коли не говорять, хто відібрав в багатьох із нас дім, рідних, а у всіх без винятку - право на безпеку та спокій. дякую ще раз вам за те, що зняли таке відео, що кажете правду, що берете інтерв'ю у прямих свідків звірств росії. щастя, здоров'я вам, та Героям слава!

-First and for most, thank you for commenting and telling part of your story. I cant imagine having to leave my home due to a full scale invasion from Russia or any nation. Im in the military, and one of my leaders always told us that words mean things. So be very particular when you use them. Especially when talking about war. Slava Urkraini! I will be in Ukraine again got the victory to celebrate with all of my Ukrainian friends and to document it.=! -Перш за все, дякую вам за коментарі та розповідь частини вашої історії. Я не можу уявити, що мені доведеться покинути свій дім через повномасштабне вторгнення з боку Росії чи будь-якої іншої країни. Я військовий, і один із моїх керівників завжди казав нам, що слова мають значення. Тому будьте дуже уважні, коли ви їх використовуєте. Особливо коли йдеться про війну. Слава Україні!
