Absolutely beautiful!!!!! Meryl and Charlie had some very interesting choreography in this free dance and skated it brilliantly. This was a perfect piece of music for them to skate to and you don't hear it over and again. They have only gotten better and better, and their career culminated with an Olympic Gold Medal.. It doesn't get much better than that.......

Meryl and Charlie treated us to a long string of memorable performances. This one in particular will always be a personal favorite. This performance removed any remaining personal doubt that World and Olympic championships were in their future! Simply brilliant!!

One of those magical moments in figure skating. And now, in 2013, we can celebrate Meryl & Charlie for their 2nd World Championship win (and 4th Grand Prix Final gold & 5th USA Nat'l Championship), and 2010 Olympic silver. But I think this was their 'breakthrough' moment. So wonderful how they've continued to grow & mature as artists.

Listen to the audience applauding throughout the program. That's unusual for ice dance and just shows how amazing this program is. It's too bad so much of the camera shots were wide angle or from the skycam. For an excellent video of this program, check out the 2009 U.S. National Championships.

This was one of those 'magical' moments for Meryl and Charlie; and the crowd response (throughout the program) was incredible, including the instant & complete standing ovation at the end: all those people in the stands (in France?) knew great skating & artistry when they saw it. This is still one of my all-time favorite performances by Meryl & Charlie; and the turning point when I became a life-long fan.

I was never one to watch Ice skating. I was introduced to Charlie and Merle from watching them on Dancing with the stars. I'm so glad that I learned who they are. They are amazing. Wow! To be able to do all those lifts while trying to stay on the ice. Just Wow! They are so sweet too. I love watching their interviews. They are both amazing people. God bless them both.

I love this program so much so I watch it everyday it so full of love and beauty. It reminds me of Ancient Greece : Charlie is playing the part of Apollo and Meryl is playing the part of Venus they are in love but they can't be together, I know this is their Samson & Delilah program but that what this program reminds me of the choreography is just stunning it can make you cry..

that moment at about 2:30, when he is down resting on her leg just brings me to the point of tears. and it is the only time i have seen charlie take the less dominant position. from here until now charlie has been getting more and more of the little jumps and great gestures. meryl seems to be the better skater and even he has said that, but he outshines her. but, that said, there are moments in most of their skates where he has made tiny errors, a toe pick down here, a slip there, almost imperceptible except to someone who has watch all of these vids more than once. this is my "good night lara" routine.

I'm so impressed with Meryl and Charlie's incredible sense of balance. The female generally has an active role in each lift even if it is to throw yourself, ram-rod straight into your partner's arms (while speeding down the ice of course.) Someone commented below about another skater's weight without considering the female is not dead weight. They have to assist in each lift. Watch how Meryl (in this video) is assisting in each lift. Some are more passive than others but they both are working during that lift. During the curve lift she jumps on his back and grabs her skate! Incredible. Who is giving it a thumbs down? Gravity? ha ha

You're right! She has to grab her skate while jumping (I watched for it), I never thought of that. I like that they're both so athletic in their lifts. HE'S not just lifting her.

Sadly figure skating is still about reputation not matter what scoring system they come up with. Since they were still considered the number 2 US team behind Belbin and Agosto they didn't get the scores they deserved. But after this performance they would be underdogs no longer.

It would be nice if the videos would last long enough to show placement. There is one thing remarkable about this couple. It is the ONLY ice dancing pair in which the male partner keeps your attention as much as the female partner. In most cases, your eyes are naturally drawn to the female because it is usual for her to be "featured." However, Charlie draws your attention like no other. Amazing couple.

Tacks Sherbo I'm old enough to be Charlie's mom (yikes!) but I love the way he moves. I normally don't pay much attention to the man but Charlie has a presence on the ice that's hard to ignore.

Jodi J i completely agree. charlie is simply dynamic. the opening to phantom - unbelievable. too bad that can't use that again. of course now they won't have to. i hope they don't go on. i can see charlie starting to lose flexibility here in 2014 compared to when he was much younger. the bend he does when doing the lifts was SO much deeper even in 2010. i think they have the gold, they have cemented themselves in ice dancing history. now they can actually go to school. they have peaked - to go on would be taking a chance on injury or even getting beat. V&M got beat...

Lara Hartley To be honest, I wish they had used Samson & Delilah in 2010. While I love POTO, it seems judges like a gentler program and S&D sucks you right in. I hate to see them leave competitive skating but I agree. They are the current World and Olympic champions. I'd hate to see age (at 26 and 27? lol!) and injury start to slow them down.

Very little known fact - the majority of this choreography and the music cuts were originally designed by Marina Zueva as what was to be Bourne & Kraatz's FD in the 2000-2001 season. The program was all ready and B&K were rehearsing it actively in the fall when they decided at the last minute to make a coaching change from Zueva in Ottawa (where she was coaching at the time, before she moved to Detroit) to Tatiana Tarasova. Tarasova gave them an entirely new FD and so their version of Samson and Delilah never saw the light of day until Zueva resurrected it for Meryl and Charlie in 2008-09. This was a gorgeous FD, but I have to say that IMO, it was the last time D&W were at all interesting to me. Igor and Marina gave them cookie-cutter programs to overused music in years to follow, so while they gained more medals and acclaim, they never again lived up to this artistically (with the exception of the excellent and original Bollywood FD in the 2010 Olympic season).
