Aluthkade Streetfood has been a very special place and the craziest street I have been to in Sri Lanka. Loved every minute of it and made 2 videos. One thing i've noticed about you Davud is the way amazing way you interact with our locals. You take food out of their hands, share a plate of kottu like us locals would usually do with our friends. A lot of other tourists would be reluctant to do these kind of stuff. Keep up the amazing videos!

The general kottu was maked by cutting roties and mixing using metal plates on the "koththu thati", that sound like "takka takara takas". When comes to the dolphin kottu, they make that using teared paratas sinking on the gray and put up and down to mix. So pieces of parata come upward ans downward in the gray like dolphins at the sea. That's why it's called dolphin kottu.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by those beggars.. Asking for money continuously is not acceptable at all..I advise you not to give anything for free.. Giving tips is up to u (It's fine giving them at least when they offered service)..When you give someone they will probably go n say their fellow beggars this guy is giving money for nothing bla bla..That's what happened. And I see several comments speaking bad about a particular community involved in this incident...They should keep in mind that beggars are everywhere regardless of the religion, nationality and caste...I don't justify the above situation (It's wrong)..This is expected in the current situation our country is in..Hope ppl are educated enough to understand this 🙂💔

Good stuff brother💯. Try the dolphin or cheese kottu from Ricorn (A busy restaurant in Maradana, Colombo).
Dave, Dolhin kottu name is because those parata strips seem as small dolphin. Yes it is reall yummy version of Kottu. Any cheese kottu would be nice too.

Just sharing my thoughts. First of all, it is wonderful to see you are enjoying Sri Lanka. I would appreciate it if you don't always pay extra when paying for your food or other stuff. Because unfortunately there are some Sri Lankans who misunderstand or take it for granted and make it a habit to expect extra money/ charge extra from the other foreigners. Of course, you do it with good intentions, but I would advise you not to do it always, just for the benefit of other friends who are coming to see this beautiful island. cheers.

Hi davud just curious. Have you ever had an upset stomach from eating these places?
@lahirujayasinghe85072 жыл бұрын
Ok here’s the story behind Dolphin 🐬 kottu. They use bigger parata pieces which is different to the normal kottu where they use small strips of roti. And they use a big WOK 🍳 to cook it where as normal kottu is cooked on a flat tray. Why they called Dolphin is that when they cook it they use lot of gravy (chicken curry/liquid) so when they mixed the parata pieces with gravy it’s like dolphins dancing in the sea 😉

Dolphins are such friendly innocent intelligent mammals. They help children with autism, Down’s syndrome and many other ailments in fact all children to swim with them, touch them with naturally smiling faces and bring happiness to them like pet dogs. Dolphins have helped those lost in sea to swim towards land by guiding humans. How can Sri Lanka allow fishermen to kill dolphins for food? It is like eating dog or cat meat but you are free to eat what you like
