Davy Crockett and John Wayne movies were my dad's shit when he was a kid. He still watches them today sometimes. I remember one time the family was visiting Disneyland. We got 2 day tickets, but went on most of the rides the first. The second day was hot and sticky and crowded and awful. Anyways, we standing in New Orleans Square, thinking of stuff to do. My dad pointed to the river and said, "Davy Crockett riverboats." My sister and mom groaned, too tired to do anything. On the other hand, I knew my dad _loved_ Davy Crockett, so I went along with him. Long story short, it was probably the best thing to come out of that day. It's wasn't any Space Mountain or whatever, but it made my dad's day. Weird story to share, but yeah, this video reminded me of it.

3:06 A lot of people don’t know this but the Texas flag didn’t fly at the Alamo. They flew the Mexican Flag with the eagle replaced with “1824.” Because at first they didn’t want to secede from Mexico they just wanted to bring back the 1824 Mexican Constitution, brining Democracy back to Mexico and ousting Santa Anna from power But Santa Anna surrounded the Alamo on February 23rd, 1836 the Texas Congress had to debate their next course of action and they decided to declare independence on March 2nd and named Sam Houston as the commander of all Texan forces. The Alamo fell four days later

The riverboat race movie with Big Mike Fink was, in my opinion, the best Davy Crockett movie/episode of them all. Tons more comedy and action, and the actor who played Big Mike was amazing, like an 80's Jack Black in his prime. Totally watch that one first before watching any other Davy Crockett movie, you won't regret it
@1krani4 жыл бұрын
That's how I saw them. Had River Pirates on tape as a kid, never saw King of the Wild Frontier until I was a teenager. I actually think River Pirates was better than the first film, simply because it keeps a more consistent tone and doesn't suddenly veer into dying at the Alamo or Andy Jackson's Presidential racism against da Injuns. Saw it again the other day. Now I cannot sleep at night because scenes from the movie keep playing in my head.

The Disney Davy Crockett phenomena was bigger than Star Wars for two years. The fans were male & female, age 5 to 80. The song was #1 for a month. Disney gave Fess Parker 10% of all Disney Crocket merchandize which was tremendously popular.

Truthfully the movie is more based on the 1800's play Lion of the West based on Crockett's life. Growing up my Poppa and uncles were so obsessed with the show that my popps punched a TV when Davy was in a fight. Yup that's him

The TV show was really popular back in Egypt that there was a Davy Crockett craze in Egypt for a short time during the early 90's to the point they broadcast the more serious and less fantastical (by comparison) 80's mini-series also by Disney.

Georgie Russell before he picked up his family and moved to Beverly. We kids loved this Velveeta version. And maybe land grab would have described the Alamo better than war for "Texas Independence". But Disney seduced us with this version and we kids loved it.

OK, if we're doing compilation films. Disney did a mini series on The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, leader of a band of smugglers who were using their ill gotten gains to help the poor people in the area. Patrick McGoohan (The Prisoner, Dangerman, (aka, Secret Agent Man), and Ice Station Zebra) played the Scarecrow, and they compiled the episodes into a feature film. How about reviewing that?

My husband has aspergers (high functioning btw hes not rain man) and he quite literally doesnt even know how fear feels let alone having ever felt it. He asked me once if it was the same thing as worry.. thats how far from fear he is. Its very nice, straight ladies/ gay men - get yourself a high function aspergers husband, they make you feel so safe all the time, they never bullshit you as they are always honest and they are the most loyal people you could have. 10 years married last month!
