Marcela Sands was my mothers best friend at school. They lived on the same street in Newtownabbey, it was originally built as a mixed area, both Protestant and Catholic, but the Catholics were forced out. My mother said the Sands were a lovely family... RIP Bobby ❤❤❤

So many died for Ireland, so it would be free and the hunger strikers, among them. I don't know what you all think, but to me the hunger strikers were murdered by the brits and old maggie just as much as if she used a gun and shot each one. One word from the old bag was all it would have taken and 10 lives could have been saved, but she chose to not do the right thing, so their blood is on her hands. Thank you, Davy

There was no reason for Bobby Sands to die the way he did; there was no real reason why the British government of the day should have refused the recognition of political prisoners and the very simple demands put to them. This video highlights the very complex nature of the situation in The North / The Province / Northern Ireland etc; which I, for one, hope is resolved in my lifetime to reunify the Island of Ireland.

It was the only time my father had seen him and Bob asked him how he was and to keep goin and to keep his spirits up. My dad was only 19. It was when they walked away that Bik said to my father "Tommy you've just looked into the eyes of a man who knows he's goin to die". The Troubles still is living in me even if i am from sweden and the period in my life when i spent time in Eire was in the last part of the sixties. The catholic family i spent time with did not like to talk about what was happening in Northern Ireland. There were a discussion about the background to the violence in Derry. Some means it was of religious backgrund, other meant it was political wih great britain involved. And others meant it was a political fight ot class origin where the catholics had no support from the republic of Eire while the protestants where supported from London and Great Britain. Today it is a lid on the kettel and in my mind its a boiling conflict in the minds of them who were a part in the period thats called the troubles. You will find the same boiling kettel in different parts of the world today

First...Thank you, Davy for your continuing work in keeping Irish History alive. 'Those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.' Second...RIP to all of the Hunger Strikers. It took a lot of courage to remain steadfast to their convictions and be a beacon of hope for Ireland's future. Third...it never ceases to amaze me how the Brits can remain so convinced that their actions are'proper' and sanctimonious! I pray that one day Ireland will enjoy the freedom from English rule, as we do here in America.

He embarrassed you all unlike the no wash ten Dirty protest blanket men on there Christ like hunger strike. You wouldn't miss EastEnders for your beliefs. No foot soiders just internet chiefs.

People should know that these prisons didn't close until 2000 and the last prisoners weren't released until July of 2000, the worst part is that allot most of what they wanted was to be treated as prisoners of war, that's exactly what they were fighting for Irish freedom
