I believe Shamsi could have answered in a more clearer way. The question was: WHY DID AISHA (RA) GO AGAINST THE IMAM OF THE TIME? which was Ali (ra). AISHA, TALHA AND ZUBAYR (R.ALLAH ANHUM) went out with an army not to attack Ali (ra) but rather to get the killers of Uthmaan (ra). The killers of Uthmaan had infiltrated the armies of Ali (ra) in Kufa and also the army of Aisha and the Sahaba. They both looked to resolve the matter. It was infact the fitna makers who started this fight in the early hours of the morning both of the fitna makers in each army attacking the other army causing confusion. Many Muslims died. These same fitna makers were the ones who killed Talha and Zubayr and also later in siffeen on Muawiya (ra's) side killed Ammar bin Yasir (ra). These fitna makers were so widespread that Ali (ra) said LETS UNITE FIRST UNDER THE UMMAH (as HE was Khalifah) and THEN we will concentrate on catching the killers of Uthmaan (ra) as the killers were numerous in number. However, Muawaiyah said NO.. "I want the haq of Uthmaan first by giving me his murderers!" So this is where the ikhtilaaf came. Ali (ra) was right and Muawiya was right also in his stance. But later ahlus sunnah agreed that Ali (ra) was CLOSER TO THE HAQ and Muawaiya should therefore have united upon the ummah and was wrong for going against Ali (ra) But they both get a reward for their ijmaa'as they were both Sahaba. We dont curse one or the other. Simple as. And Allah knows best

Ghadeer was the final public acknowledgement of this fact but has been known since the Muhammad pbuh first announced to his near ones as Allah swt commanded him to do 23 years earlier and when asking for a helper and successor then, a young Ali ibn Abu Talib stood up 3x to pledge himself to Islam.
