Bailey's style of playing brought chicago to the spot during the 80's. I'm a guitar player myself and in my opinion bailey's guitar playing is so amazing that to me chicago brought themselves to the next level.

Dawayne Bailey never needed to imitate Kath. Dawayne is one of the most underrated guitarists. He’s just really in the music and contributed his own great style. 🌹

Dwayne And Jason TOGETHER Rocked Chicago... these 2 put Chicago in the Classic ROCK league.. I love watching These two ..they're NOT KAROAKIE LIKE THAT ONE PETER LOVING FREAK SAYS.. THESE TWO ROCKED CHICAGO REPETES.. Ps.Dewanye Baily to look at him he has Paskha Darrow Indian If I'm saying that right.. a lot of that tribe ran that part of the Country..his cheek bones tells he has that blood in him.. Get Centennial it's a 13 hr doc /movie and you'll see the cheekbones in Mr.Baily

As a long time guitarist myself, I have respect for Dawayne as a musician. I actually saw Terry's last performance with Chicago (the last tour), and played in a band myself with a good horn section. I also experienced the advent of Van Halen, and guitarists like Alan Holdsworth, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Frank Gambale, as well as the early work of the young Neil Schon. So, I spent years absorbing the styles of those great players. When I saw Mr. Bailey with Chicago....I loved his performance, but his style seamed way outside the spirit of the Chicago music. I loved Chicago....and appreciated Dawayne....but not together. Yes, I get it. Chicago was just trying to be updated...and stay current. If the fans liked it, great. For me, it was a mismatch.

Tom Jones . I don't think his guitar work miss matched too much ,you have to remember that was the late 80's early 90's, matched the era and I think he added a nice flare to the songs without ruining them, I think if he would have dressed more conservatively like Lamm or Scheff He would not of had so much attention drawn to himself in an "un"Chicago manner. Those aren't the reasons he got pushed out of the band though it was more of personal matters

​@@scottydog62 I suppose they were trying to capture a younger audience. I can't watch any of those performances. But, I was guitarist teen when Chicago's first and second albums came out....and that music will always set the benchmark for me. Yes, I love Chicago 18 and the work Bill Champlin did as a member....but again, I saw the Son's of Champlin with Terry Haggarty on guitar live in the 70s...and knew Bill's work very well. It resonated with me, what he did with Chicago. He helped to craft a new iteration of Chicago. It's a personal taste thing, no doubt.

@@tomjones2348 I agree with you ,I'm 60 years old my older siblings had C.T.A. Double album and I played the crap out of that thing at 8 -15 years old Until I wore it out haha. So I prefer that era myself . However if you listen to the 1992 live version of You're the inspiration , I really love Dawayne Bailey's Guitar work on the Fills and accents of that song, Just type in 1992 chicago live you're the inspiration

For Chicago’s guitarists, I think Chris Pinnick’s style fit best, (post-Terry) especially into the 80s live period. Bailey’s bombastic style with dive bombs and shredding just never fit with the Chicago sound to me. Overplaying and totally the other direction from Terry’s soulful style.

I can see why many people say this people that like Chicago weren’t into metal and he really added a metal aspect to the band I loved what Dwayne was doing with the band.
